This invention relates to an improvement in mounts for clocks and other instruments and has for its main object the-provision, at alow cost for manufacture, of a convenient and attractive mount which will securely support a clock or other instrument and measurably guard the same against accidental injury or displacement therefrom.

By means of my invention as Will be hereinafter set forth, I not only provide a novel and attractive assembly, but the support is so organized with the clock proper and it is of such character that not only is the latter securely held in place and measurably protected, but a convenient handle is provided by means of which the assembly is rendered readily portable without requiring the instrument itself to be grasped, which is not only an awkward expedient, but occasions the impression of finger prints, etc., upon the transparent crystal.

With the above and other objects in view as will appear from the following, my invention consists in a mount for clocks and 5 other instruments characterized by an inverted substantially-U-shaped frame straddling the instrument-unit and comprising a pair of complementary spaced-apart sidereaches to which the instrument-unit is secured, and a top-reach extending over the instrument-unit and uniting the two said side-reaches to anchor the same together and providing a convenient handle by which the assembly may be lifted.

My invention further consists in a mount for clocks and other instruments, characterized as above, and having certain other details of construction and combinations of parts as will be hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claims.

Between the vertical side-reaches 11 and 12 referred to,is located a clock or other in.- strument 14;, held in place-preferably with capacity for tilting movement-by means of screwsstuds- 15 and 16 respectivelyinstalled in the said side-reaches and projecting; into engagement with the casing of the clock. 14.

The upper ends of the side-reaches 11 and measure of protection to the upper endof the clock 14 againstaccidental injury.

are united by an integral semi-circular topreach 23 extending over the top of a cylindrical clock-case 24, which is preferably mounted between the said side-reaches with capacity for tilting movement by means of studs 25 (only one of which is shown).

As before pointed out, the frames may assume a wide variety of decorative forms, both in cross-section and in outline, but in each instance, the frame is characterized by a top cross-reach connecting the spaced-apart vertical reaches which'are preferably, though not necessarily, integral therewith, so as to provide a relatively rigid mountand a convenient and attractive means for carrying and otherwise handling the clock structure without touching the clock itself, thus guarding against the production of unsightly finger marks and similar blemishes upon the clock. In addition to stabilizing said sidereaches and providing a means for handling the clock, the mount furnishes a considerable degree of protection for the instrumentunit or clock which is straddled by the frame, all as described;

It will be understood by those skilled in the'art that my invention may assume varied physical'forms without departing from my inventive concept and I. therefore, do not limit myself to the specific embodiment herein chosen for illustration, but only as indicated in the appended claims.

In a mount for clocks and other instruments, the combination with an instrumentunit to protect the same and uniting the two said side-reaches to anchor the same together and to provide a convenient means by which the assembly may be handled; and a base ex.- tending between and connecting the lower ends of the respective side-reaches of the said U-shaped frame and providing therewith a relatively rigid closed structure around said instrument-unit, said base also furnishing a means for supporting said mount in an upright position. a

Ina mount for clocks and other instruments, the combination with an instrumentunit; of an inverted substantially-U-shaped frame" straddling the'said instrument-unit and comprising a pair of complementary spaced-apart side-reaches to which the said instrument-unit is secured, and a top-reach extending over the-top of the instrumentunit to protect the same and uniting the two said side-reaches to anchor the same together and to provide a convenient means by which the assembly may be handled;and an individual foot forming a feature of the lower end of each of the side-reaches of the said U-shaped frame andserving to support the mount in an upright position.
