Description

S. ZYSKOWSKI.
CURTAIN AND SHADE HOLDING DEVICE.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 30, 1920.
IN l/E/VTOR v z/s/fowskf ATTORNEY! UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
STANISLAW ZYSKOWSKI, OF WILKES-BARRE, PENNSYLVANIA.
CURTAIN AND SHADE HOLDING DEVICE.
' To all whom it may concern:
facture.
The above and other objects will become apparent in the description below, in which characters of reference refer to like-named parts in the drawings.
Referring briefly to the drawings, Figure 1 is a view of my device applied to a window frame.
Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional elevational view of said window frame, showing my device from the side.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of my device.
Fig. 4 is a side view of the device of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is an end view with the springs 6 and cross-bar 81 removed.
Referring now in detail to the drawings, the numeral 1 re resents a window and 2 the frame thereof. lIy device comprises a body portion 3 having an upwardly extended hook or clamp member 4 with the end 5 thereof extending downward in the form of a finger, teeth 11 being provided on the latter. Coiled springs are suspended from the lower end of said body portion, and to the lower extremities of these springs is secured a cross-bar 31 bearing a depending ring 27 and upwardly extending hook fingers 28. The ring 27 is adapted to support one end of a window shade.
To provide for the support of a second window shade and a curtain pole, there are Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 8, 1921.
1920. Serial No. 392,906.
provided respectively two supporting arms,
9 and 10, adjustably mounted on a horizontally disposed member 21 formed integrally with the body portion 3. Said member 21 is provided with a slot 22. A member 24, which holds the supports 9 and 10, is bent through the slot 22 and about a guide 30 at 23, whence the member 2% may slide along the member 21.
A thumb screw 25 is attached to the member 24: as shown, and is pivotally supported in the threaded sleeve 26 which is rigid with the member 21. Thus the distance between the two devices supporting the curtain rod and shade may be varied at will without removing the said members from the window frame.
In mounting my support on a window frame, the teeth 11 and the hook lingers 28 engage opposite faces of the upper crosspiece of said frame, the springs 6 serving to hold said teeth and fingers yieldably engaged in said faces. Thus I have provided a support which will hold three window appliances as above indicated. The springs insure a secure hold of the device upon the window frame and admit of the device being readily applied or dismantled.
I claim A device of the class described comprising a body portion, a clamp on the upper extremity of said body portion, teeth on the end of said clamp, coiled springs secured to the lower extremity of said body portion, hooks depending from said springs a ring attached to said hooks, a member extending horizontally from said body portion, a bracket slidably supported in said member, and means for varying the horizontal position of said bracket.
Signed atdWilkes-Barre, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, this 14.- day of June A. D. 1920.
