GEORGE WILKINSON, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DIARY.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Gnonen WILKINSON, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at 1222 Third avenue, city of New York, county of New York, State oi New York, United States of America, have invented certain new and useful Improve mets in Diaries, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in diaries and consists of a book divided by a marginal index into thirty-one sections, each number being indicative of a day of a month, and each section divided into twelve parts, and each part carrying the designation, as, for instance, January, February, March, of the successive months of the year, and also the designation of the day of the week which corresponds to the index number, as for instance, Thursday, January 1, 1920; Saturday, May 1, 1920; Wednesday, December 1, 1920, the object of my invention being a diary which will at once show the day of the week of the day of the month corresponding to the index number. For instance, assuming that the person using the diary wishes to know whether or not he has an engagement on April 9th. He will turn first to the index number 9, and then follow down the left hand page to the month of April, which he finds to be Friday, and notes whether any memoranda have been made for that date; or as otherwise stated, assuming he wishes to know if he has any engagement on the second Sun day in April he turns over the pages of the book and notes that the second Sunday in April comes on the 18th. As still otherwise stated, the object is to provide a convenient means for making memoranda, determining dates and days of the week upon which the dates occur in any calendar year, and without the necessity of turning to a general calendar.
The accompanying drawing will serve to illustrate my invention, in which the figure is a perspective view of an open book. At the right of the drawing the book is shown as divided into a series of 31 sections A, and a series of separate leaves B. Each section is divided into two pages C and D,

and each page divided into six parts C to C inclusive. At the top oi the page is the numeral E, representing the year, as, for instance, 1920; F the designation of the month, as January, February, March, etc, and G designation of the day of the week, as Thursday, Sunday, Monday, etc,
the parts C to C being in series, starting from the leaf C and ending at the bottom of the leaf D.
To use the diary, the book is opened at the day of the month where it is wished to make the record, as, for instance, on the first of the month, and the record made on the part representing the month and the day of the month corresponding to the first, as for instance, September, lVednesday, 1st.
Manifestly, a series oi'records can be made on different dates, as, for instance, 1st, 10th, 20th, 30th.
I am aware that it has been suggested to make a diary, having an index divided into the days of the month along one edge, and the page corresponding to each date divided into a series of parts designated by the successive months, and such I do not claim asmy invention, my invention being limited to the construction as above described, with the addition of the day of the also the day of the week corresponding to,
the day of the month represented by the index.
In testimony whereof, I aiiix my signature, in the presence of a witness.
GEORGE WILKINSON. Witness:
E. L. INGALLS.
