MOW%J UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK L. DORSK, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, ASSIGNOR T MARYLAND TOY MANU- FACTURING COMPANY, INCORPORATED, A CORPORATION OF'MARYLAND.
TOY.
Application filed June 12, 1920.
l 0 a] Z whom it may cancer-n:
Be it known that I, FRANK L. DoRsK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in toys, and has for its object to provide a simple, cheap and attractive toy for the amusement of children, and further to so construct said toy as to save space and to prevent breakage in shipment.
The invention consists of the novel construction and arrangement of the parts hereinafter more fully set forth in the following specification and pointed out in detail in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure l is a side elevation of my inven- 23 is a rear end view of Fig. 1.
rring to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, and in which like reference numerals designate like parts throughout the several views thereof, 1 d g nates the base having sides 2 projet-ting from the under surface thereof in \i'hich revolubly mounted the axles 3 havwheels 4; on the ends thereof. The front end of the base 1 is provided with ablock 5 to which is secured one end of the reciprocating platform 6, the rear end of which Specification of Letters Patent.
projects back over the base 1. Mounted on the rear axle 3 is a wheel 7 having a number of cam faces 8 on the periphery thereof. The base 1 is provided with an aperture 9 in line with the wheel 7, and a pin 10 projects through said aperture 9 and has its lower end resting upon the cam faces of the wheel 7. As the said Wheel 7 revolves the cams 8 cause the pin 10 to be raised and lowered thereby striking the lower surface of the platform 6 and causing it to reciprocate. A figure 11 is mounted on the upper end of the rod 12 which latter projects through the platform 6 and into the base 1. The legs of the said figure 11 are pivoted to swing thereon.
As the toy is drawn along the ground the cam faces of the wheel 7 raising the pin 10 cause the platform 6 to reciprocate and give the figure 11 the appearance of dancing thereon.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
A toy comprising a base, axlesmounted below the said base and having Wheels on the ends thereof, a reciprocating platform having one end secured to said base, a figure mounted above said platform, a wheel mounted on the axle and having anumber of cams on the periphery thereof, and a pin projecting through the base and having one end rested on the cam face of said wheel and adapted to reciprocate said platform.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
FRANK L. DORSK.
