NECKTIE-HOLDER.

T 0 all 10 7mm it may concern Be it known that I, TONY MALoY, a subject of Italy, residing at the city and county of San Francisco and State of California have invented new and useful Improvements in Necktie-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a combined necktie form and holder.

It is the principal object of the present invention to provide a frame upon which the ordinary four-in-hand necktie may be tied and by which it will be securely and detachably held in position at the front of a collar without appearing in the least unsightly or without possibility of becoming displaced from its connection with the collar and the collar button.

The present invention contemplates the use of anecktie holder having a resilient frame forming wings adapted to extend between the two folds of a collar, and being further fitted with a form around which the tie may be tied and a loop adapted to slip over a collar button, the resilient na ture of the frame being such as to produce a continuous binding action for holding the frame in position relative to the collar and with the button loop in permanent fixed position over the but-ton. The invention consists of the parts and the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more fully described and claimed, having reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view in elevation illustrating a fragmentary portion of thecollar and showing the application of the present invention thereto.

Fig. 2 is a view in perspective illustrating the tie holder and showing its various details of construction.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 10 indicates a downwardly extending front loop which is held in position by clamp plate 12. This plate also forms a fastening for the opposite ends of the wire from which the holder is made, the two ends terminating within the confines of the plate as indicated at A. It will be noted that the plate 12 is substantially triangular in formation with its base portion lowermost and that emanating from its apex are wires 13 and 1 1. These wires extend in diametrically op osite directions to each htly curved away from the Specification of Letters Patent.

plate 12 to conform to the annular contour of a collar 15; The wire portions 13 and 1 1 are formed at their outer ends with continulng convolutions 16, after which the wire is bent downwardly to form lower wire portions 17 and 18. The lengths of wire 13 and 17 and the lengths of wire 14: and 18 each form U-shaped wing members, wh ch are adapted to extend under the opposite outer folds of a collar and partially act to anchor the frame in position. Midway between the convolutions 16 and sub* stantially in the rear of the plate 12 is a button loop 19. The opposite sides of this loop are formed by U-shaped bends. 20 which are continuations of the wire portions 17 and 18. These bends and the loop lie in a plane substantially at right angles to the plate 12 for a purpose to be hereinafter set forth.

It will further be noted that the loop 19 is formed with a downwardly extending bend 21 by which the manipulation of the holder may be facilitated.

In operation of the present invention a four-in-hand tie is folded with its ends together and may thereafter be tied around the form of the holder comprising the main loop 10 and the plate 12. The holder and tie may then be grasped with the thumb resting beneath the loop extension 21 and the hand passing over the knot of the tie. The wings of the holder comprising portions 13 and 17 and 14 and 18 may then be inserted beneath the opposite side flap of a collar and then the thumb may be pressed upwardly against the extending loop 21 to swing the loop portions 17 and 18 of the wings upwardly and to bring the button loop 19 over the collar button. It will be noted that this action will tend to bring the portions 20 and the loop 19 in a plane substantially parallel with that of the plate 12, instead of at right angles thereto as is normally the case.

When the button has been normally seated within the loop 19, the holder may be released and the resilient action of the holder will act to hold the loop 19 in position over the button and further bind the portions 13 and 14 of the holder to the collar so that the holder will not be easily misplaced, also the tie knot will be held snug' against the inner wings 7 of the collar and present a tidy appearance. It will thus be seen that the device here disclosed, while simple in its structure, yet provides convenient means for securing the necktie in position without necessitating that it be tied at each application, and further insuring that the holder will be firmly held in position relative to the collar without possibility of becoming accidentally displaced.

While I have shown the preferred form of my invention as now known to me, I wish it understood that various changes in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. A. necktie holder formed of a single piece of resilient wire providing a front loop around which a necktie is positioned, a pair of oppositely extending wings for projecting between the folds of a collar and a loop adapted to fit over a collar button, said loop being disposed in a plane substantially at right angles to the plane of the form and adapted to be brought into proper relation to the button by distortion of the wing ortions.

3. A necktie holder formed of a single piece of resilient wire and comprising a main loop carrying a body plate and providing a form upon which a tie may be secured, oppositely emanating wings formed by the continuations of said wire and terminating at their extremities in a plurality of convolutions of the wire, a button hole loop formed by the lower strand of the wire and normally standing substantially in a horizontal. plane, and a tang formed as a continuation of the loop and extending downwardly substantially in a vertical plane.
