INVENTOR L. Rule WITNESSEs ATTORNEY ROBERT L. RULE, OF STRONG CITY, OKLAHOMA.
RIDING-LISTER ATTACHMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 28, 1920.
Application filed May 8, 1920. Serial No. 379,962.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, ROBERT L. RULE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Strong City, in the county of Roger M1118 and State of Oklahoma, have invented new and useful Improvements in Riding-Lister Attachments, of which the following 1s a specification.
The present invention comprehends the provision of an attachment for a riding llster plow, and embodies means for conveniently maintaining the plow in a straight course, while the lister is traversing inclined territory having a tendency to slip or slide laterally.
To this end, the lister or beam is plvoted upon the main frame for lateral movement, and is associated with a hand actuated lever, in a manner whereby the lister beam and plow as a unit may be adjusted with reference to the main frame.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detail description is read in connection with the accompanying drawings, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawings forming part of this specification, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views and wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of a lister plow embodying my invention.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view showing different positions of the lister beam.
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1.
Fig. i is a rear elevation showing the different positions of the lister beam and plow carried thereby.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary view of the main frame showing the bearings thereon.
Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the sleeve- 1- like attachment for associating the lister beam with the bearing on the frame.
Referring to the drawings in detail, 10 indicates generally the main frame of the lister which supports the axle 11, the wheels being indicated at 12. The lister generally may be of any suitable construction except that the wheels 12 are equipped with flanges 13 utilized to prevent sliding or slipping of the lister while the latter is used upon inclined territories. The flanges 13 may be secured to the wheel in any suitable manner. A standard 14 has fixed thereto a substantially cone-shaped bearing 15. A lister beam indicated at 1.6 has associated therewith a hollow boss 17 designed to accommodate the bearing 15, in a manner whereby the lister beam 16 is susceptible of swinging adjustment in a horizontal plane. The hollow boss 17 is carried by an elongated plate 18 arranged at one side of the lister beam 16, suitable fastening elements 19 projecting from the plate 18 and passed through openings in the beam 16. Nuts or other suitable elements 20 are associated with the bolts 19 for holding the device illustrated in Fig. 6, associated with the beam 16. By reason of this construction and arrangement of parts, it is manifest that the beam 16 may be adjusted laterally to maintain the plow in the desir'ed course irrespective of the inclination of the ground over which the machine is traveling, and the tendency of the machine to slide laterally. The different positions of the lister-beam and plow is illustrated in Figs. 2 and 4.
Pivoted on the side of the main frame 10, is a lever which controls the movements of the lister beam 16. For this purpose an arm 26 is operatively associated with the forward end of the beam 16 and also connected with the lever 25. The arm 26 is curved as at 27 so as to allow for the vertical adjustment of the lister in the usual well known manner. A pawl 28 is pivoted upon the lever 25 and associated with the hand operated member 29 through the instrumentality of the rod 80. In this manner, the pawl can be released from the rack 31 to permit of movement of the lever 25 in the adjustment of the beam 16, subsequent to which the pawl cotiperates with the rack 31 to hold the parts fixed in their given position.
While it is believed that from the foregoing description the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself in this connection and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scbpe of what is claimed.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new is In combination, a plow frame, a plow beam, an elongated plate arranged longitudinally of and secured to said beam, a swing movement, a lever, an arm connecting standard carried by the frame, a cone-shaped the lever with said beam whereby the latter bearing associated with the standard, a may be adjusted by means of the lever and 10 hollow boss projecting from one side of means for holding said beam in a given said plate at a point between its ends and deposition.
signed to accommodate itself to said bearing In testimony whereof I afiiX my signature. whereby the beam is mounted for lateral ROBERT L. RULE.
