Be it known that I, CHARLES It. ANDERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Jerseyville and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Push Flows, of which the following is a speciiication, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention is a push plow for garden use, and the object is to provide a simple and practicable device of the kind embodying a self adjusting push plate against which the operator may lean and push forwardly, in
order to propel the plow through the soil.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a side elevation.
Figure 2 is a detail of the push plate, push rod and connecting joint.
The invention resides in providing the ordinary wheel plow l. with a 'forked `push rod 2., adjustably attached at 3 to the @levis l of the plow, by means oi bolts 5. A push. plate 6 is adjustably mounted at the end of the rod 2 by means oi' a bracket 7 extended from the plate and connecting with the end of the rod 2 by means oi a universal joint 8.
In use, the operator pushes the plow forward by leaning against the push plate, the universal joint allowing this plate to move to meet the motion of the'body of the operator. By means of the clevis the plow may be adjusted to plow deep or shallow.
While I have herein described a certain specilic rmethod of constructing and assembling the elements of my invention, it is understood that saine may be varied in minor details, not departing from the spirit of the invention as dei-ined in the appended claim.
I claim:
In a push plow embodying a wheel plow and a push rod adjustably connected thereto; a push plate adjustably connected to the end ot' the push rod by means of a. universal joint.
