LOUIS G. THIERY, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN WATCH-CHAIN CATCHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 136,l90, dated February 25, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, Lotus G. THIERY, of the city of Newark, county of Essex and. State of- New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Snaps or Catches for Necklaces or other ornamental chains and 1 do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon and forming part of this specification, the figure shown being a plan view.
This invention relates to certain improvements in chains; and consists in a circular, oval, or other shaped hollow wire, with a ring, snap, or catch, for necklaces and chains. A ring is made of hollow wire, having a hingejoint, so that it may be opened, substantially as shown in the drawing, the dotted lines representing the ring opened. The catch or snap consists in a spring-latch, A, adjusted and secured by a rivet, t, as shown in the drawing, so that it catches in the opposite end of the ring, substantially as shown. An inner ring, a, may be added, if desired. for the purpose of attaching a charm, locket, or other article.
A further or lengthy description of this invention is .not deemed necessary, as the drawing hereunto annexed fully and clearly shows the device, so that a person skilled in the art can, with the drawing before him, easily construct the article. 7
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A hollow wire with a catch or snap for necklaces and chains, constructed, arranged, and operating as set forth.
