CARL F. CAPELL, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-TENTH T0 KATHERINE MONEFF BROWN AND TWO-FIFTHS TO HERBERT CUTLER BROWN, BOTH OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented NOV. 30, 1920.
riginal application filed May 29, 1919, Serial No. 300,729. Divided and this application led July 16, 1920. Serial No. 396,879.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that l, CARL F. CAPELL, a citizen of the United States, residing in Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles, State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in ReceptacleClean ers, of which the following is a Specification, the same being a division oft my application No. 300,729, filed May 29th, 1919, for process of canning and in canning-machines.
My invention relates to means to clean the interiors of suoli receptacles as cans, jars and bottles in which fruit or other material is placed for canning or storing and the ob ject thereof is to provide a simple, efficient and inexpensive device by means of which the interior of a receptacle can be quickly cleaned, and sterilized if desired, and the dirt or other matter in the receptacle conducted away from the cleansing station.
The drawing forming a part of this application is a central vertical section of so much of my device as is necessary to illustrate my invention, showing the saine applied to a can shown in centnal vertical section.
Referring to the drawings, 1 is the supply pipe through which the cleansing medium, which is preferably steam or hot compressed is conveyed from a sr'bsplyhht shown. 0n the end of pipe 1 is a nozzle, 2, which has a downwardly opening, port 3, and an upwardly opening, port 4. In the nozzle is a vibrator, 5, which is a piece of wire coiled with the ends projecting through the ports which is usedto kee the ports from clogging when in use. t could be 7, away from the cleansing position. Ipjg; 40
fer tQlSQflm as a cleansing medium but prmmfemblllled, tcoultllje llseflf.. As shown by the arrows themstkeiii".
Tsing from port 3 passes down into the can which rests upon bench, 8, directly below the nozzle and removes any grease or other impurity that may be in the can. A portion of the steam passes out of the nozzle through port 4, and is directed up through pipe 6, thereby acting on the injector prin ciple to carry the steam coming up out of the can out through pipe 6, which leads it away to a place of discharge.
Having described my invention I claim,-
1. A receptacle cleaner comprising a pipe adapted to carry a fluid cleansing agent; a nozzle on the end of said pipe, said nozzle having two ports, one projecting upwardly and one downwardly; and a pipe having a larinlg mouth surroundingsaid nozzle.
adapted to carry a Huid cleansing agent; a nozzle on the end of said pipe, said nozzle having an upwardly and a downwardly opening port; a vibrator in said nozzle; and a pipe having a flaring month surrounding said nozzle.
In witness that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto subscribed my name this 6th day of July, 1920.
