said tank is provided at 2 with a filling funnel, and the conduit 3 intermediate said funnel and the tank is-equipped with a cut- 05 valve which is designed to he closed after the tank charged with oil. I also prefer to provide the tank 1 with a glass gage 5 to enable the attendant to perceive the height of oil in' the tank. This gage, however, is l'lOfUSSUilt-lfll to the proper op eration of the apparatus, and it may therefore be omitted, if desired, without aii'ecting my invention.

The said pipe (3 is connected through a pipe 8 and a pipe 9 with the bottom of the tanlrxl, and the pipe 8 is provided at its end remote from the pipe 6 with a drain cock 10, to facilitate cleaning of the tank 1, when the same is necessary. The pipe 6 is connected at its for ard end to casing 11, and the said casing is designed to be connected to a hose 30 having a suitable nozzle (not shown). Within the casing 13. the pipe 6 is provided with a discharge nozzle 13, and this latter is preferably, though not necessarily, provided with a C'll'filllitl series of minute apertures lei.

in the practical operation of my novel apparatus, hot water under a suitable head is forced through the pipe 6 in the direirtion indicated by arrow. A portion of the water will pass the valve 20 and enter the tank 1, and will displace the ioil from the tank, and force it through thcpipo 15. The remainder of the water willpass throughout the length of the pipe (3, and at the nozzle 1?) will take up and become colnn'iinglcd with the oil, and when the conuninglcd oil and hot water is forced through the hose 3i.) and against the locomotive or other nuu-hiuc' to ho washed, the painted parts of the machine will be thoroughly cleansed. and yet there will he no bleaching or other deterioration of the paint.
