The invention has for a Vgeneral object to provide an improved Clothes wringer characterized by simplicity and durability of construction, andr by efficiency of operation.
A further object of the invention is to provide a simple device whereby the water wrung from the clothes may be directedk back into the tub from which the clothes were removed for wringing.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objectsl and advantages thereof, reference-willbe had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth y:
Figure 1 of the drawing is a face view of a wringer constructed according to the invention.-
Fig. 2 is a transverse section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a partial vertical axial section of one end of the wringer.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary face view showing a modification.
The frame of my improved clothes wringer is preferably made mainly of metal tubing and comprises a top horizontal member 1 connected at its ends by elbows 2 to-the upper ends of side members 3 the lower ends of which are screwed into connections 4 and 5 the former of which is a T and the latter a cross. The lower ends of these connections have secured thereinto short tubes 6 which latter are screwed at their ends, as shown in Fig. 3, into the web portions of a pair of inverted-U clips or feet 7 which are adapted to Astraddle the edge of a wash tub in the usual manner, and are provided with the clamping screws 8 threaded through one of the legs thereof whereby the wringer is fastened to the tub. To permit of adjustment of the clamping device to fit upon the edge of a horizontal support the 'opposite Y legs of the clips to those carrying the screws ySere provided with tapped openings 9 into which the" tubes 6 `may be screwed, the clampsthen assuming theposition shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2. The bottom horizontal. member of the frame is formed by a 'flat strap 10 which is perforated at its ends to receive the tubes 6 and is clamped against the feet 7 by means of nuts 11 threaded on y the tubes and screwed down againstr the straps. n
Hthin the rectangular frame thus formed are supported 'the rollers 12 and 13 of the wringer, the upper roller12 being vertically ad]ustable and the lower roller 13 being on a fixed axis. Each of these rollers comprises a facing of rubber fixedv by vulcanizing or otherwise on tubes 14 .and 15, these tubes extending at. their ends slightly beyond the ends ofthe roller bodies. To support the upper roller 12a pair of sleeves 16 are slidably mounted on the upper tubes 3, these sleeves being ,conveniently formed of T- unions whose lateral offsets have fixed therein the pins 17 which project freely into the opposite ends of the tube 14 and so rotatably support the upper roller. This upper roller is pressed yeldinglyV down toward the lower roller by' means of a pair of expansion springs 18 coiled aroundthe tubes above the sleeves 16 and bearing between the latter and the elbows 2, enlarged washers 19 being preferablyk interposed between the ends of the springs and the sleeves and elbows.
The lower roller 13 is mounted in place by means of a rod 2O which extends cornpletely through the tube 15 and is riveted or otherwise secured to the ends of the tube as at 21. This rod projects beyond the roller tube 15 at both ends, one lend extending freelyinto the lateral ofset'of the T-union 4, while the opposite end extends freely through the horizontal elements of the cross connection 5. As will be apparent the roller will be thus rotatably mounted in the frame, the ends lof kthe rod 20 acting as trunnions for the roller.
The end of the rod y20 which projects through kthe cross connection is preferablyv bent at an approximate right angle to form a crank arm 22 for rotating the rod; the end of this arm having a handle 23 mounted thereon in any well known manner. i
In order to enable the water wrung from the clothes to be directed to either side as desired an adjustable baille strip is piyoted on the frame strap 10 and is adapted to be swung either to the position inclining downwardly in one direction under v`the Arollers shown in full lines in Fig. 2 or to the posiln Fig. #L I have shown a-modified form of resilient pressure means applied to the upper roller 12 and comprising a kbow spring fixed midway between its ends to the underside oi' a block 3l secured on the top member l, the ends oi the spring being perforated to surround the side members 3 and pressing downwardly on the sleeves 16.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is as iol- .lows

A Lclothes wrngercomprising tubular top and side frame members, one of said side frame members including a T-union, the other of said side frame members including a cross connection, a pair of rollers, a rod passing through one of said rollers general plane of `side frame members including a Tunion, the other of said side frame members including a lcrossconnection, a pair of' rollers, a rod passing through one ot said rollers and ournaled in the said union and connection, the end ofthe rod adjacent the said crossconnection projecting beyond the latter and being formed with a crank handle, sleeves formed or T-unions slidable on said side :trame members, and pins projecting from the lateral oifsets of said sleeves and rotatably supporting the other of said rollers.
3. A clothes wringer comprising tubular top and side frame members, rollers journaled in the side frame members, a pair of U-.shaped clamping clips screwed upon the lower ends of said side trame members, a strap rigidly connecting said side Jframe members and clamped at its ends against the said clips, said clips being adjustable to engage a member extending either in the he wrmger or transversely thereto.
