IMPROVEMENT IN CRIB ATTACHMENTS FOR BEDSTEADS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 134,847, dated January 14, 1373.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDWIN F. BRYAN, of Savannah, in the county of Ohatham and State of Georgia, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Crib Attachment for Bedsteads, of which the following is a specification:

Figure 1 is a perspective View of my improved crib attachment shown as applied to a bedstead. Fig. 2 is a detail section, showing the manner in which the crib attachment is socured to the bedstead. 7

My invention has for its object to furnish an improved attachment for bedsteads, to form a bed for a child, or to form a table or support to receive things required by an invalid, or by one who cannot leave the bed, and which shall be simple in construction and convenient in u use, being readily detached when not required.

The invention consists in the combination of hooks and brackets with the crib to adapt it to be detachably attached to the side rail of a bedstead, and in the combination of a detachable railing with a crib provided with suspension hooks and brackets, as hereinafter fully described.

A represents an ordinary bedstead, about the construction of which there is nothing new. B is the crib, which is made with a bottom,

. two ends, and one side, as shown in Fig. 1.

The bottom of the crib B may be made close or of slats, as maybe desired. To the bottom of the crib B are secured two or more hooks, G, which are made of such a form as to hook securely upon the upper edge of the sides of the bedstead. The hooks 0 shall be adjustably secured to the bottom of the crib B by screws or other suitable means, so that they can be conveniently adjusted as the thickness of the side rail of the bedstead may require. To the lower side of the bottom of the crib B are attached two or more brackets, D, in such a position that their straight sides may rest against the outer side of the rail of the bedstead A, andthus support the crib in proper position. To the outer side of the crib B is attached a railing, E, to prevent the child from falling out. The railing E should be detachable, so that when the attachment is used as a table it may be detached and laid aside. The railing E may be secured in place by having bars attached to it, which enter sockets or keepers attached to the side of the said crib.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The combination of the hooks O and brackets D with the crib B, to adapt said crib to be dctachably attached to the side rail. of a bedstead, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purposes set forth.

2. The combination of the detachable railing E with a crib, B, provided with hooks O and brackets D, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
