PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE CANNING STBACHAN, 015 DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
BATHTUB.
Specification of Letters Patent .Application filed January 8, 1919. Serial No. 270,115.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Gnouen C. STRACHAN, a British subject, residing at Detroit, county of Wayne, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in 3athtubs, and declare the following to be ain connection with an ordinary stationary tub.
Theobject of this invention is to provide a relatively small bath tub adjustably supported within the usual stationary bath tub, the construction being such that the small tub may be raised and lowered so that a child may be easily bathed by the nurse in I charge.
A further object of the invention is to provide for the delivery of water to the auxiliary tub and its subsequent discharge into the main tub, that the water so delivered may pass off through the sewerage system of the latter. WVith the foregoing and other objects in .view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination andarran ement of )arts and in v D e the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes may be made in the precise embodiment herein disclosed without departing fromthe spirit of the invention.
I In the drawings accompanying this specificationz Figure 1 is a perspective view of an ordinary stationary bath tub with my auxiliary tub. supported therein. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view of the same showing a hose pipe connection leading from,
the faucet of the stationary tub'to the auxiliary tub.
Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view on line 3-3 of Fig. 2. r V I Fig. l is an inverted plan view of the auxthe means for engaging the adjustable supporting arms to the tub.
'Referring now to the letters of reference placed upon the drawings A, denotes a stationary tub of usual con- 5 struction. B, denotes a relatively small-tub provlded upon its underside with brackets C, adapted to receive adjustable supporting 'rods D, extending transversely across the bottom wall of the tub.
E, designates set screws for securing the bars in the bracket when properly adjusted. F, indicates L-shaped bars, adjustably mounted in a suitable fitting G, secured to the outer end of the rods D. II, denotes a set screw in said fitting for securing the bars F, when adjusted. I, is a rubber cushion on the end of the bars resting upon the" edge of the stationary tub.
J, is a drain-off plug in the lower wall of the tub and K indicates a perforated lug for suspending the tub from anail when not in' use.
M, is the usual faucet connection forthe stationary tub, and N, is a hose pipe connec- Iatented Aug. 3,1920.
tion between the faucet and the auxiliary tub. 1
Having indicated the several parts of the invention by reference letters, the construction and operation of the same will be readily understood.
Havingv thus described my invention,
what I claim is:-
A device of the character described, comprising a bath tub, brackets secured to the bottom of said tub, a plurality of rods extending transversely through said brackets,
means for securing the rods in said brackets when adjusted, fittings secured to the outer end of said rods, vertically adjust'ablemembers extending into said fittings for supporting the tub at different altitudes .upon
the walls of a relatively larger: tub, and meansfor securing said vertically adjustable members in rigid relation to the fittings when adjusted.
In testimony whereof I sign this specification in the presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE CANNING STRACHAN.
