Abstract

What I claim is new about my invention is that the Safety Tub Insert will eliminate getting the patient in and out of the bottom of the fixed tub, which is unsafe at the very best. This will eliminate sitting on a stool and tripping on the same. When the safety tub insert is installed, the caretaker can help the patient sit on the edge of the tub and slide back to the center of the 4″ inch deep safety tub insert. The caretaker can then swing the patient's legs into the center of the tub. Now the patient is sitting and soaking their most likely spot to get a bed sore. Their bottom is in two to two and one-half inches of warm bath water. The caretaker can drain the safety tub insert into the fixed tub drain and dry 90% of the patient's body, swing legs out and the patient bottom will be 14″ to 22″ above the floor. It is much safer to stand from that height than the bottom of the fixed tub. The patient won't have to step over the side of the tub to get in or out of a tub ever again.

Description

  • This application claims priority over provisional application no. 60598474

The disabled person or patient will not need as much assistance in getting in or out of the safety tub insert as would be needed to get in or out of the bottom of the fixed tub. Also, the caretaker will not be in as much danger of back injury from the assistance.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

  • A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a top elevation of the present invention.
  • FIG. 2 is a side elevation of the present invention.
  • FIG. 3 is a side elevation of the fixed tub.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • FIG. 1 shows a top elevation of the safety tub insert in accordance with a drain 1 top flange 2 sides 3 and bottom 4.
  • FIG. 2 shows a side elevation of the safety tub insert in accordance with a drain 1 top flange 2 sides 3 and bottom 4.
  • FIG. 3 shows a side elevation of the fixed bath tub with a drain 1 top flange 2 sides 3 and bottom 4.
