'lhis "invention relates to table writing pads ,and more particularly to that type of writing pads adapted to be used on desks or in which the wrltlng paper 1s drawn as needed from a roll.
rlhe object of this invention is to'provide a simple .ineirpensive and easily manufactured writing pad of the type indicated `from onepiece of sheet metal embracing various novel arrangements and combinations of parts as hereinafter Vmore particularly specified.`
Une sheet of drawings accompanies this 'application as part thereof, in which like reference characters denote like parts l throughout.
Referring to the drawings:
Figure 1 represents a sheet of metal as preliminarily die stamped.
Fig. 2 represents a plan of the devlce after the second step in its manufacture and in its completed form.
Fig. 3 is a side elevation from Fig. 2.
Fig. 4C represents a side elevation of the device as in use with roll of paper in position for use.
From a suitable ieee of sheet metal, such as brass having suiiicient rigidity and a. certain degree of spring resilience, a blank 1s cut having a body part A of rectangular or other desirable form, lateral wings, FFB,
. parallel slots lD--D and C and notched. edge titl Y the slots D-D l. ln the same operation knobs'C-#C may be punched upwardly'in the wings B --B, and the parts of the body F located between and between slot C Vand the notched edge lil may also be stamped up- .wardly until the lower faces of part F and G are raised above the plane of the' top sur-. face'of the body A about the thickness of a sheet of paper] 'llhe wings lB--B are then bent upwardly until they are parallel to each Specication of Letters Patent. other and perpendicular to the body A with the knobs C-C projecting inwardly and opposite to each other.
4ln operation a roll of paper such as is which is wound on. a shallow spool, is sprung into position. between the wings B-F the knobs C-C centering in the bore, of the spool and holding same resiliently so that the spool is rotatable but will not turn of itself. The free edge of the paper is then passed through the slots D-D under the raised part F over the body A which body having lateral wings, knobs depressed from said wings and guides formed in said body and limited therefrom by parallel slots cut therein.
2. A. writing pad holder constructed from one piece of suitable sheet metal having in combination a flat body provide'd'with parallel slots, parts ofv said body limited by said slots being raised above the plane of said body and wings integral with said body having vknobs stamped therein, said knobs situated opposite each other, and adapted to center and resiliently hold a roll of writing paper.
3. A writing pad holder constructed of one sheet of suitable sheet metal comprising a body provided with parallel slots, guides formed from said body and limited by said slots, a toothed edge on one of said guides and spaced supports bent from said `body and provided with oppositely disposed inwardly directed knobs adapted tocenter and resiliently hold a roll of paper.
d. A; writing pad holder comprising a body having lateral wings, knobs 'depressed inwardly fromsaid wings and guides formed in said body and limited therefrom by parallel slots cut therein. i
5. i writing .pad holder constructed from one piece of suitable sheet metal, havling in combination a flat body provided vwidely marketed for adding machines, and
limited by said slots by being raised above Ythe plane of said body and wings integral with the body, having inwardly `directed knobs stamped therein, said knobs being situated opposite each other and adapted to center and resiliently hold a roll of Writing paper.`S
