L. WOLLE.
TATTING SHUTTLE.
APPLICATION FILED MAR. 30, 1920.

UNITED sTAT s "PATENT OFFICE.
LEONORA WOLLE, or ROCKDALE, TEXAS.
TATTING-SHUTTLE.
Specification of Letters Patent. t t J 29, 1920 Application filed llfliarch 30, 1920. Serial No. 369,915.
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be it known that I, LnoNonA WVOLLE, a. citizen of the United States, residing atltockdale, in the county of Milam and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tatting-Shuttles, or" which the following is a specification.
()ne object of my present invention 18 the provision of a multiple'yarn tatting shuttle2'. 6., a tatting shuttle comprising two or more shuttle units detachably connected together so that all the shuttle units may be used as a single unitary device; each of the shuttle units being designed to carry an individually colored yarn, the shuttle units being detachably connected together so that different combinations may be used in a single device, and tension means for the bobbins oi' the units being provided to prevent too tree turning of the bobbins when desired.
To the attainment of the foregoing, the invention consists in the improvement as hereinafter described and definitely claimed;
In the accompanying. drawings:
Figure l is an edge elevation of one compound shuttle or shuttle device constructed in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged transverse section showing the mannerin which I prefer to detachably connect the shuttle units to gether.
F 3 is a detail view illustrative of the spring-strip complementary to one bobbin.
Fig. 4L is a view of a modification.
Similar numerals designate corresponding parts in Figs. 1 to 3 to which reference *ill firstbe had.
Each of the'shuttle units is designed to carry a yarn 1, and it will be understood that the said yarns are to be of different colors. It will also be understood that each unit comprlses two side members 2, an interposed rotary bobbin 8 and a spring-strip 4 complementary to the bobbin; and saidspring-strip 4 being designed to maintain the yarns of different colors evenly as to length. 7
Each spring-strip 4 is connected at one end to one member 2 and is provided at its opposite end with a projection 4* which works through an aperture 4' in the member and exerts yielding pressure against the adjacent bobbin 3. V
The shuttle units are detachably connccted together in side by side opposed relation, so that neither of the said units will interfere with the use of the other. The said detachable connection is effected through the medium of a snap-fastener 5, and from this it follows that by the exer else of a little stress, one unit may be readily detached from the other and may as readily be attached to such other without anyliability whatever of the units becoming casually disconnected incidental to the manipulation and use of the device.
Manifestly when desired the shuttle units may be marketed separately and may be connected together by the purchaser and userin different combinations, according to the number-of differently colored yarns that it is desired to use.
In themodification shown in Fig. 4 two units with side members 2 are detachably or needed by snap fasteners 5 to an intermediate unit having side members 2. The outer units are of the same construction as the units of Figs. 1 to 3. The intermediate gl nt, however, is not equipped with a bob- Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, 1s:
1. A tatting shuttle comprising tatting shuttle units detachably connected together in opposed side by side relation and each having a rotary bobbin. Y
2. A tatting shuttle comprising tatting shuttle units detachably connected together in opposed side by side relation; each of said units having side members and rotary bobbin between said side members and also having on one. side member a spring-strip provided with a projection arranged to work through an aperture in the side member and bear against the bobbin.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
LEONORA WOLLE.
