To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, HARRY I-I. SHA W, a citizen of the United'States, and a resident of Cambria, in the county of'San Luis I and advantages among which are the following: A septum or partition is provided,
disposed longitudinally in the tubular body of the spout and extending from approx mately the forward end thereof to-apprommatelythe rear end, thereby d1v1 d1ng the spout into two separate longltudmal passages respectively for the outflow of the contents of the can and for the inflow of air; in a side of the spout and leading to the 'eduction passage an opening is formed adjacent to the outer end of the spout to provide for the complete emptying'of the can; the outer end of the spout is provided with a head in the form of a flange which arrests the inward movement of the spout and I form said head rounded so that the spout may be driven into the can by nressureor a blow of the hand, thereby obviatingthe necessity of .any tool to deliver a drivin blow against the spout; the tubular body a jacent to the outer end has a swell or enlargement giving an increased diameter adjacent to the .flange or head to insure-a tight fit of the tube in the opening made in the can.

My improved spout includes ,a tubular body 10, the forward end of which is tapered at opposite sides to provide as usual cutting members 11 whereby the spout may be driven into the, head of the can indicated at A. I provide the spout with a longitudinally-disposed septum or partition 12 ranging lengthwise and dividing the tubular body of the spout into'longitudinal passages 10*, 10", respectively, through which, the contents of the can flow outwardly and air passes inwardly. An opening 13 is formed in a side of the tube and leading to the'passage 10 for the outflow of the contents, said opening being adjacent'to the outer end of the spout so that the complete contents may escape.
' At the outer end of the spout the same is formed with an outwardly directed flange 14 which limits the inward movement of the spout into the can and said head I form rounded whereby a blow may be delivered against the spout'by the hand without injury to the latter for driving the spout into the can. Also, the tubular body adjacent to the flange 14 is made with an enlarged .diameter as at 15 to effect a tight fit of the spout in the opening made thereby. Advantageously also, there is a zone 16 at the forward end of the enlarged zone 15 and of slightly less diameter than the latter but of zones 16, 15, to tightly accommodate the last mentioned zone.
The partition 12 is of spring metal and is sprung into U-shape transversely and thus positioned with its side edges resiliently binding against the body at opposite sides.
Thus, the partition may be removed for the thorough cleaning of the device, the removal being readily. effected by flexing or springing the partition into U-shape transversely, which is permitted owing to the resiliency of the material.
I would state in conclusion that while the illustrated example constitutes a practical embodiment of my invention, I do not limit myself strictly to the mechanical details herein illustrated, since manifestly the same can be considerably varied without depar turefrom the spirit of the invention as de- I fined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, 1'
claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent tute a rounded drivinghead adapting the device to be driven by a blowof the hand and adapted to seat on said can to limit penetration of the spout, said body having a plurality of successively enlarged swells adjacent to said head as and for the purposes specified.

A device adapted to be driven into a can to constitute a spout, said device including a tubular body, and a longitudinally disposed partition therein extending approximately from the inner end to approxi-- mately the outer end and dividing the [body into passages'respectively, for the outflow of .the co'ntents of the can and the ingress of air, said partition being'of spring metal resiliently engaging at its side edges the opposite wallsof the body and being re- 30 movable for cleaning of the device.
