A further ohjeet of the invention is to provide an improved elanip for eonneeting the stations of the tank. so that the same an he assetnhled with t'aeilitj' and when so assembled will remain water proof or liquid tight against the eseape of the nontained fluid, and which will not only perinit the tank to he inanutm-tured eeonoinieally but permit the parts to he [H'Utlllt'tltl and shipped to a desired point. where it is to he assetnhled, thereby lending etiit'ieney in the field.

As shown in the drawings. in whit-h like referent-e eharaeters designate eorresponding parts throughout the several views, the tank is shown as eomprising a lateral seetion or side in formed of a series of ver-. tiral plates 11 of the proper eonvexity, the same being of sheet metal and having their vertit'al side eilges hent nadiall outwardly. as indivated at l2. sulistantially at right angles. and then riretuni'erentially in opposite direetion at right angles as indieated at 13, forming flanges hy whieh the strips [1 eonstituting the lateral section or side of the tank, are set-tired together. The elatnps lt are preferably disposed in spaced relation eir'nmferentially of the tank hotly, and. spaced also vertiea'lly at the ,joints between the-sections or plates 11 and as shown in the drawings, the elamps are disposed in closer relative positions toward the bottom of the tank. in order to permit withstanding of the inereased pressure nd weight against the lateral seetion or side at the bottom. as eompared to the same at the top portion of the tank.
The bottom of the tank is indirated at 2'2. and eomprises an intermediate seetion :23 and substantialiy semi-eireular seetions .24; at either side thereof. having their peripheral edges eoofornting to the end edges of the intermediate seetions '23. and having their sides. formed with flanges joined by elamps eorresponding to the elamps 14. as already deserzhed. llowever. in order to join the peripherai edges of the bottom to the lower edge of the lateral seetion or side of the tank. there are provided .elamping members 2.) of the same eonstruetionas the elamping members 1-1. exeept that the bottom and the side are arranged in eontiguous relation to enter between the jaws 15 aml 16. In other words the bottom is made of sutiieiently larger diameter to be reeeived between the jaws 15 and 16. and is then bent upwardly at right angles. as indieated at 26, to enter one of the grooves or reeesses 19. the same being formed in the jaw 16 as shown. However. in order to eonneet the top or cover to the side of the tank. elamps 35 are employed. these eiamps substantially eorresponding to the eonstruetion of the elamps 14 and 25 and it is to be here noted that the rib or projeetion 17 may be of anv desired eross seetion, while the inner wall of the groove or reeess 18 may extend at an oblique angle from the end wall thereof. so as to permit the neeessary interfitting engagement of these .parts. when assembling the abutting flanges at the edges of the plates and the parking. anil joining the same. as speeitied. ln joining the eover to the side. the top edge of the side is ln'utolltu'nl'dl) is designated at 30 and is as indieated at 36 and then downwardly as indicated at 37 to enter one of the grooves 19. while the eover is extended sutiieiently outwardly to enter between the jaws 15 and 16, and is then bent upwardly at right an gles. to form a flange 38 to enter the opposed groove 19, the eo-aeting portions being elamped together. with or without the park ing. as desired. although it is to be here stated that the parking is found unheeessary at the top. Thus. it will be readily seen that the parts of the tank (an be shipped. knoek down and elamped together in the lield or whereever the deviee is designed to be used for eontaining oil or other liquids. This pro vides means whereby the tank ean be very eeonomieully produeed and set up. insuring ettieiency in the field. and resulting in a tank structure which is partieularly trong and sealed against leakage. The parts may be readily assembled and clamped together to form the eomplete strueture. without employing skilled labor.
Having thus deseribed my what I elaim is:
1'. A knock down elamp tank for eontaining oil or the like, comprising a lateral seetion formed of a series of strips of sheet material disposed with their edges in abutting relation and formed with right angularly bent portions substantially parallel thereto, a bottom for the tank, and clamps for eonneeting said right angnlarly bent' portions with an intermediate parking. said clamps comprising jaws having reeesses rereiving said portions and clamping the same together between the recesses and the inner edges of the jaws against the strips, one of said jaws being provided with a rib and the other provided with a recess engaged by the rib at their co-acting faces, and clamps 4. 9. A elamp for the purposes set forth,
romprising roaeting rertangular blorks of elongated formation, said lllfit'ltS forming aws and having ai'ined transverse openings therethruugh interniediutely of their ends, one of said aws being provided near its outer edge with a rectilinear groove in its inner face and the inner face of the opposed jaw being provided with a rectilinear rib snugly fitting said groove, said jaws near their inner edges being provided with opposed recesses at their inner faces, and a bolt connecting said blocks through said openings therein for clamping the same to- 10 gather.
