DAVID DAVIS, OF SHEAKLEYVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN MEDICAL COMPOUNDS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID DAVIS, of Sheakleyville, in the county of Mercer and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain Medical Compound, called Dr. D. Davis Pain- Panacea, to be used as a medicine, either internally or externally, for the cure of the following complaints, viz: Cramp-colic, cholera, cholera morbus, dysentery, diarrhea, neuralgia, rheumatism, spinal aifections, pains in the back or side, ear-ache, head-ache, fever and ague, sore' throat, diphtheria, quinsy, biliousness, gravel, affections of kidneys and bladder, chilblains, dysmenorrhea, swellings, bruises, cuts, burns, inflamed eyes, coughs and colds, poisoning by vines, bites, or stings of insects or rabid animals, of whichthe following is a specification:
The nature of the invention of the said DA- VID DAVIS consists in mixing the following ingredients, viz: Oil of hemlock,two ounces;
'oil of origannm, four ounces; oil of sassafras,

two ounces; oil of rosemary, two ounces; oil of peppermint, one-fourth of one ounce; oil of spike, one ounce; castor-oil, three ounces; spirits of camphor, two ounces; alcoholic tincture of smart-weed, four ounces; alcoholic tincture of capsicum, four ounces; alcoholic tincture gum guaiac, two ounces; chloroform, four ounces; sulphuric ether, two-ounces; alcohol, one gallon, colored with tincture of alkanet root.
As soonas the above ingredients are thoroughly mixed together the medicine is ready for use.
I claim as my invention- A medical compound called Dr. D. Davis Pain-Panacea, composed of the above-named ingredients,and in the proportions and for the purposes set forth above.
