This invention relates to improvements in combined wardrobes and bedsteads, one of the objects of my invention being to pro-. vide a bedstead arranged to carry drawers, under the springs thereof, and a wardrobe at one end thereof. By means of myimproved combination a great saving of room is accomplished, as drawers, for the retention of clothes or other articles that can be folded, and a wardrobe within which Wearing apparel can be hung, will be incorporated in a bedstead. Hence, wherever there is room for a bed, retainers for wearingapparel, etc., will be included, and as virtually three pieces of bed-room furniture 'will be arrayed in one, much floor space will be saved.

I will now proceed to describe my invention in detail, the novel features of which will be pointed out in the appended claim, reference being wherein:

As herein arranged, my invention con sists of a head section A, and afoot sec tion B connected by rails 7 to support a spring member C. The head section A in this instance consists of posts 8 which support an arcuate extension 9, said posts being connected by a cross-bar 9. The provision of the arcuate extension leaves. a space 10 which I partly fill by means of a member 11. The arcuate extension is provided to had to the drawing,

enhance the appearance of the bed, at the same time to lengthen same. The spring member C will rest upon the side-rails 7 and cross-bar 9 (see Fig. 6), the filler 11 being flush with the top surface of the spring;

hence, the mattress 12 can overlap the end of the spring and rest upon the filler 11. By this means a bed can be lengthened using the standard spring, and a long mattress used, the filler preventing the mattress, at the end, from sagging into the space between the cross-bar 9" and inner wall. of the extension. 1

The wardrobe member B consists of a wall member 13, curved side members or panels 14 and 15, a door 16, hinged at 17 (in this instance), to panel 15, and shelves 18. Hooks may also be provided,'if desirable. The wall member. 13 (in this instance) fills the spacebetween the postmembers 19. Under the side rails 7 and between the post-members 8 and 19, I place slidable drawers 20 and 21 suitably supported in order that they can be opened and closed. It will be apparent that I am able by means of my improved combination to incorporate the pieces of furniture in one, that is to say a bed, a wardrobe and Patented May 4, 1920. l

A bedstead comprising post members, side rails'connecting the post members, a cross bar connecting two of the post members, an arcuate extension carried by the post members having the cross bar, and a filler located in the space between the cross bar and arcuate extension, the top of said filler being located somewhat above the top surface of the side rails and cross bar so as to lie flush with the top of a bed spring, carried by the side rails and cross bar.
