IMPROVEMENT IN DEVICES FOR APPLYING RUBBER NUTS TO BOLTS.

Specification forming part of Letters latent No. 133.716, dated December 10, 1872.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAMES MINETREE, of Petersburg, in the countyof Dinwiddie and State of Virginia, have invented a new and useful Improved Instrumentfor Applyingltubber Nuts to Bolts; and I do hereby declare the following to beat full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specilication, in which Figure 1 is a side view of the bolt, showing a section of the rubber nut; and Fig. 2 is a side view of the bolt and the instrumentvfor applying the rubber nut, a portion of .said instrument being broken away to show it's construction more clearly.

Similar letters of reference in the accompanying drawing denote the same parts.

The object of this invention is to improve the means for applying elastic nuts to bolts;

- and to this end the invention consists in theconstruction and employment for the purpose of the tapering instrument hereinafter described.

elasticity causing it to adhere to the screwthreads with such tenacity that no slight force is necessary to effect its removal.
