Description
L. F. DOELLINGER. WBINGER ATTACHMENT.- APPLICATION FILED JULY 31,1919.
Patented Apr. 6, 1920.
. longitudinally LOUIS F. DOELLINGER, OF WATER-L00, IQWA;
WRINGER ATTACHMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed July 31, 119. Serial No. 314,476.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LOUIS F. Dornnrxonn, a citizen of the United States of America,
"and a resident of Waterloo, Blackhawk improvement is to provide means for preventing clothes from becoming enwrapped about the rolls of a wringer.
This object I have accomplished by'the means which are hereinafter described and claimed, and which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a clothes\,vringer equipped with my improved coacting devices for preventing the enwrapping of clothes about either roll; Figs. 2 and 3 are enlarged perspective detail views of the two coacting devices mentioned; Fig. 4 is a side elevation of a pair of wringer rolls as separated from their frame, and having said devices coactingly mounted thereon, and Fig. 5 is an end elevation of the parts so shown in said Fig. 4.. v
Similar numerals of reference denote corresponding parts throughout the several views.
My invention comprises two coacting devices, separately shown in said Figs. 2 and 3, and also shown as associatgl. coactingly with each other and with wringcr rolls in said Figs. a and 5. The two devices are of somewhat similar forms and dimensions and each device has like inverted-J-shaped and horizontally s aced hangers,'the hangers 1 'of'one device eing reversed in position. relative to the like hangers 7 of the other device, Each hanger 1, therefore, has its upper part curved" semicircularly to provide a shorter depending member 2, while in like mariner, each hanger. -;7 has its upperpart'cu'rvedsemi-circularly -in an opposite direction to provide a shorter member 8-. The lower ends of the, longer members 7 'arerigidly connected to the ex- I cross section, This bar forms the only contremitics ofthe longitudinal horizontal bar 9, preferably of rectangular or polygonal nection between said'hangers 71'-8.
The lower ends of the other hangers 1 horizontal bar 3 rigidly connects the mid dies of the upper semi-circular parts of said hangers 1. At locations near the beginnings of the curves of bending of said hangers 1, the hangers are punched out to provide horizontally projecting parts or shelves .6 partially cut away at openings 5.
The hangers 1 are first mounted upon the ends of the upper roll 11 of'the wringer Patented Apr. 6, 192,0.
10 by hanging their semifcircular parts 2 thereupon conta'ctingly so that the hanger members 1 depend to locate the lower longi- 'tudinal bar 1- parallel with and in contact with one side of the lower r011 12. The other device 18 mounted in a s milar manner with its curved member 8 overhanging the upper roll 11 but not in direct contact therewith,
as the extremity of the member 8 rests upon the shelf or projection 6 of the hanger 1 abutting thereagainst on its inner, face, The
longitudinal bar 9 of said hangers 7 is positioned parallel and in contact with the opposite side of said lower roller 12, di
rectly opposite the other like bar r. It will be seen that the curved members 8 are sup I ported ofi' center on said projection 6 which causes the lower parts of themembers 7, to-
gcther with the bar 9. to move toward and v j roll 12 by the action of gravity. The weight w keep said bar 9 in contact with said lower of this device upon said projection 6 also tends to swing the other bars 1- into contact with the opposite side of the roll 12 so that said pair of devicescoactingly and antomatically retain their posit-Jon's with their I bars 9 and 4 in contact with said lower roll. Said longitudinal bars form abut-- inents which deflect and prevent clothes be coming 'enwrapped about either roll. These devices are operative wit-lithe manually 1 ac.- tuated 'wringer shown in Fig. '1,'
Having described my invention, what I motor. 160,
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters v Patent, i's':
1'; A device oftlie character described,- r
coacting' :-hangers. adapted to be removably supported "upon comprising separable the. upper roll of a pair. of wringer-rolls,
and having deflectoremembers respectively extended along the top of the upper roll and alongpposite sides oi' thelower roll.
2. A device of the character described,
comprising separable 'coact?ing hangers adapted to be positioned on opposite sides of a pair of upper and lower wringer-rolls, with one hanger suspended on the upper roll and the other hanger supported on the first-mentioned hanger, the first-mentioned hanger having a deflector-member extended along the top of the upper roll contactingly,
and each of said hangers having a deflectorcontactingly along the upper -roll, said,
hangers having longitudinal projections on their longer arms, and a'rpair of J-shaped hangers positioned reverscly relative to the first-mentioned hangers about said upper 011 with the extremitiesof their short arms supported movably upon said projections, each pair of hangers having a bar rigidly connected between them and extended contactingly along the abutting side of the lower roll.
4. A device of the character described,
comprising a pair of deflector-devices positioned about a pair of wringer-rolls, one device being movably supported on one roll, and the other device being niovably supported on the first-mentioned device and separably movably engaged therewith whereby the lower parts of the devices areiinpelled by their gravity'coactions to approach the roll therebetween, said devices having deflector members positioned along said roll.
Signed at \Vaterloo, Iowa, this 14th day of July, 1919,
LOUIS F. DQELLINGER.
