A eea liled illlay a1,
Be it known .that I, .CHARLES MEHIQtt citizen of the United States of'America, residing at Omaha, in the {county of Douglas "and State of Nebraska,"have invented cerv tain new and useful" Improvements in Tag- Hold'ers, of which the following is a speci V cation, reference being. had'therein to the accompanying drawing. i v 1 The invention relates to tag holders and has for its-object to provide a sprlng actu} ated hOl'ClGI 'Whl(lh may beieasily' and quickly attached to ashipping crate and-in such a manner as to bearagainst ashipping tag and maintain-the same in position. 1
A further object is to provide a shippin tag holder formed from a single piece'o spring wire, said holder having-a portion adapted to be secured to one of the slats of the shipping crate anda V-shaped tag hold ing "member having a right angled point at and to pass through the eye of the shipping tag.
.With the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as. hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention of the invention.
maybe made Within the scopeof what is claimed without departing from the spirit 'In the. drawings 1 Figure 1 is a perspective View of-..the shipping tag clamp showing the same applied to a slat of a shipping crate. H n
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of another form of tagclamp.
Fig. 3 is a further'modified form of the shipping tag clamp.
Referring to the drawings the numeral 1 designates a slat ofashippingcrate and 2 the tag clamp} The] tag clamp is formed' from a single piece of spring wire bent so as to form a transverse bar 3, the wire being bent as at 4, thereby forming rearwardly extending members 5, Which members are coiled as at 6, which coils form spring means. After the coils 6 are formed the wire is again bent so as to form members 7 at right angles to the members 5, said members 7 being bent at right angles as at 8 thereby forming portions 9 extending towardeach other, which portions are in turn bent as at-1O so as to ms-riot ng;

ber12 is bent' so asto form a right'anglein- I lbeing,disposediunder the arms, 11 and 12 wardly extending sharpened lug 14, which and by the spring action of the 'coilspr-ings V 5 6 'beiprevented from displacement or becoming marred. ,The clamp as-a whole is se- "cured to the slat 1 by means of sta les17 which arch the bar 3, and areembe in j :one side 'ofthe slat 1. Y
, Referringto. Fig. 2, in this form the bar 3* is provided withan oflsetportionifi ,said bar 3 being secured to the slat l by means of staples 3. 'Ihe'end's of the bar 3*: are bent as at 18 thereby forming'members 19,"which members overlie the sides of the slat'j-1" and have their ends coiled as at 20, thereby form .ing'springs. After the wirehas been bent so as to form the coils 20 they are bent so as to extend forwardly forming portions 21,
which portions 21 are substantially parallel to the face of the slat 1; Portions 21 form means for preventing side movement of the Y clamp as a whole; after the portions 21 are formed the wire isagain bent as at 22 so as to form members 23, which members are sub stantially parallel with the members 19, the Y wirethenfbeing again bent as at 2430 as to form the portions 9 The further bending and structure of the tag clamp as shown in member '25, which is secured to the slat by staples 26,.the arms of the U-shaped mem'- 28. which members are adapted to overliethe sides of the slat. the wire being again bent this form is the same as that shown in Fig. 1.
Referring to the form shown'in Fig.3 the clamp is provided with a U-shaped arched as at 29 so as to formv the portions 30, which portions are substantially parallel to the face of the slat. The portions 30 'corre-.
spond to the portions 21 in the form shown in Fig. 2 and the'clamping member of the tag clamp s of the same construction as that shown in Figs. 1.2 and 3.
It will be seen that a tag holder has been,
desi ned which mav be easily and quickly applied to a sh pping tag and one wherein itwillbe possible to quicklv atta h or detach the tag. It will also be seen that the consignees name may be placed on one side 7 of a ship ing tag, and the consignors name on the other side. then when the crate is delined in the e n is efaad emr r l only hein'ecessary for hirn to raise the tag clamping member against the action of the r s rings 20, reverse the tag, place it under-the amp and allow the clamp to come down Over the same Withthe pointed member 14 passing through the eye of said shipping The invention having bfifii Se fQlT h is claimed as new and 'useful is A ppin We lamp fa m d; fr m a iegl Pi ce 9 Se ies Wi e aid e'm @9 1 e mg a ns fe ise e i e adap d" 0' b secured to a sl tof e fcre egmansffpr prevent- .ingoeeon pf aid transv rse pers n, th
