hibiting stand therefor and is fully described and explained in the specification and shown in the accom nan in drawin s in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of my clevice, Fig. 2 is a rear elevation with certain parts broken away to show the construction; Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 4. is a section on the line of Fig. 2.
Referring to drawings, 5 is a vertical post preferably formed of pipe having. a forward extension 6 and having attached to its lower end a member forming two legs 7 which with the extension 6 form a three legged base. At the upper end of the upright 5 is a small water tank 8, having a water supply pipe 9 to which is connected a vertical tubular member 10 which forms a part of the marketed water bowl. This member 10 has a transverse portion 11 which contains the valve which is so arranged as to be opened by pressure on a valve pin 12-. The valve may be of any desired form and is not illustrated in detail. The valve' is operated by pressureupon a downwardly slanting reticulated valve-operating member 13 pivotally supported as illustrated.
14 is the water bowl proper and it is held in place at the rear by the engaging means now to be described. At the rear upper edge the bowl is provided with a pair of fingers 15 which lie between pairs of the lugs 16 on the tubular member 10, the. fingers being supported by extensions which embrace the tubular member. At the lower end of the tubular member 10 is an arm 17 bearing a pivoted latch 18 which engages in a hole 19 in a downwardly extending flange 20 on the lower edge of the water bowl. Immediately beside the latch when in engaging position is the vertical flange 21 at right angles to the flange 20, the object of this second flange .-Specification of Letters'lPatent. .Patenteidtlgeb *Ap-plication filed J'une"1B,1919. manner, it being possible to: remove it for cleaning and emptying by "simplyv releasing the latch 18, and swinging the lower edge of the bowl outward or forward to permit the disengagement of the fingers 15 from the lug 16. This is the practical operation of the 'bowl when in use. 1
For exhibition purposes and use by salesmen the water tank 8 is filled with water, and the actual operation of the bowl can 55 The wateribowl is operated in anobvious thus readily be illustrated, water flowing down into the bowl when the valve-operating member 13 is depressed. When the bowl is filled it is removed and the water poured back mto, the tank 8. This arrangement affords a very convenlent and desirable mechanism for graphically demonstrating to the customer the actual operation of the device, and it is manifest that it is made practicable principally by reason of the fact 1 that the water bowl is of the removable type. l
I realize that considerable variation is possible in the details of the construction herein shown, and I do not intend to limit myself thereto, except as pointed out in the following claims, in which itis my intention to claim'all the novelty inherent in the device as broadly as is permitted by the state of the art. 4
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. In a stock watering bowl and exhibiting stand therefor, in combination, a portable stand having a supporting base, a
water supply tank carried by the upper end of the stand, a. vertical valve-containing member, a valve operating device pivoted thereto and a, water bowl directly attached to the vertical valve-containing member and removable therefrom, the outer end of the valve operating device extending into the bowl. I
2.111 combination, a vertical tubular member, valve means therein, a pivoted valve-operating device carried thereby, pairs of lugs on opposite sides of the vertical member, a water bowl having fingers adapted to embrace the vertical member and to enter between the pairs "of lugs thereon, a
latch carried by the lower end of the vertical tubular member, and a flange at the lower end of the water bowl provided with an opening through which the latch engages to hold-the bowl in place, i
3. In combination, a vertical tubular member, valve means therein, a pivoted valve-operating device carried thereby, pairs of lugs on opposite sides of the vertical member, a-water bowl having fingers adapt ed to embrace the vertical member and to enter between the pairsof lugs thereon, a latch carried by the lower end of the vertical tubular member, and a flange at the lower end of the water bowl provided with an opening through which the latch en- ,gagcs to hold the bowl in place, and an auxiliary flange at right angles to the first named flange and adjacent to the latch for the purpose set forth.
4. In combination, a vertical member hav-' mg at 1ts lower end a horlzontal extenslon device and a water bowl removably supported in position to receive discharge from the valve means. 7 r V In testimony whereof I have hereuntoset my hand and seal this 7th day of June, 1919.
