1 This invention relates generally to hangers. or a brackets and particularly to a device of this character which may be detachably mounted on the swinging spout of a faucet for hanging towels, cloths or other-articles to dry.

An object of the invention is to provide a hanger or bracket of improved construction which may be readily mounted on the swinging or swiveled spout of. a faucet, especially faucets of the kind generally installed on kitchen sinks, andwhich will project outwardly beyond the end of the spout so as. to permit towels, wash cloths, etc. to be conveniently hung over the basin or bowl to dry.

A further object of the invention is to provide a hanger or bracket adapted to be detachably connected to the swinging spout of a kitchen faucet, the hanger being preferably formed of wire to provide an end loop engaging beneath the rear end of the spout and having means adjuste ably positioned on the hanger frame for engagement with the depending end of the spout to prevent turning or displacement of the hanger during use.

Other objects of this invention will appear in the following description and appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification wherein like reference characters designate corresponding .parts in the several views.

Fig. l is a. side elevation, partly broken away, illustrating a hanger bracket, embodying the present invention, mounted in operative position upon the spout of a faucet.

Fig. 2 is a plan view of the construction shown in Fig. 1.

Fig. 3 is an enlarged section taken substantially through lines 3--3 of Fig. 1 looking in the direction of the arrows.

Fig. 4 is an enlarged section taken substantially through lines 44 of Fig. 1 looking in the direction of the arrows.

Before explaining in detail the present invention it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and arrangement of parts illustrated in the accompanying drawings, since the invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced or carried out in various ways.

Also it is to be understood that the phraseology or terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and not of limitation.

In the present preferred embodiment of the invention the bracket is formed from. a ,single length of suitable gauge wire which is bent back upon itself to provide two spaced longitudinally extending side members [3 and M which preferably extend in parallelism for a distance cor-1 responding to or approaching the length of l the spout ll. As stated above, the side members. I13. and ld are parallel for a. suitable distance and thence these side members are bent toward each other to provide elongated converging portions l3a. and Ma. At their meeting point at the forward terminal end of the converging sides I311 and Ma I the latter are secured together in any suitable manner, such as by means of a cap l6.

Slidingly mounted upon the parallel side portions [3 .and I4 is a slide I1 which may be formed from sheet metal. This slide extends across the tops of the wire side members l3 and I4 and terminates at opposite ends in downwardly bent partially coiled portions l'la which embrace the side members [3 and I4 sufficiently to hold the slide in position .while at the same time permitting it to be shifted toward and from the end loop l5. Secured to the underside of the slide 11, such as by spot welding, is a clip I8 formed from spring metal and provided with spaced depending spring prongs l9.

The hanger bracket may be readily installed in position upon the spout ll of the faucet by inserting the downwardly extending end ll Id of the spout between the sides l3 and M of the bracket and then sliding the bracket rearwardly into position to cause the loop I5 to engage beneath the spout near the rear end thereof, as in. the manner illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2. Thereupon the slide I1 is shifted along the side members 13 and I4 so as to position the same at a point immediately above the nozzle end Ila of the spout. Thereupon the bracket is forced down to cause the prongs [9 to embrace the sides of the nozzle Ha and grip the same. The prongs I9 of the clip l8 are preferably spaced apart in normal condition a distance less than the width of the nozzle I la so that when the clip is forced into position, as illustrated in Fig, 3, the prongs will be spread apart and will grip the sides of the spout under spring tension.
