Description

S. G. BIGELOWL Improvement in Baby-Jumpers.
N0. 133,008. Patented Nov.12,187 2. I
Tami- UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
SETH G. BIGELOW, OF SILVER LAKE, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN BABV-JUMPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 133,008, dated November 12, 1872.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SETH G. BIGELOW, of Silver Lake, in the county of Kosciusko and State of Indiana, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in a Baby Jumper and Walker; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawing is a representation of a top view of my invention; Fig. 2 is a central vertical longitudinal section; and Fig. 3 is a detail view.
This invention has relation to baby-jumpers, and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the seat, springs, and frame, substantially as specified.
Referring to the drawing, A A designate the sides of the frame mounted on caster-wheels B. G is a transverse central connecting-beam, having two openings, 1;, through which pass the flat springs E supporting the seat E. The springs E are secured to a transverse pivoted bar, F, at the crank-bends F, and converge toward the seat end. When these springs are depressed they turn said transverse bar forward. G represents spiral springs attached to studs 9 depending from the under side of the bar F, and connected to hooks h secured to the bar 0. The shanks of said hooks pass through said bar 0, and, being threaded, are furnished with thumb-nuts d, the object of which is to regulate the tension of the spiral springs. The combined action of the spiral and fiat springs gives an easy graceful motion to the child in the seat.
By touching the ground with his feet the child is enabled to move the jumper along from
