IMPROVEMENT IN PlTCHER-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No, l32,0, dated November 5, 1872.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, BENJAMIN T. CURRIER, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain Improvements in Ice-Pitcher Holders, of whichv the following is a specification:
The object of this invention is to provide a cheap, safe, and convenient means for holding ice or water pitchers and catching the water which drips from the outside of the same when in use either from condensation or when being poured out and it consists of a deep plate or holder, which is provided with a series of projections around the interior of the same. The bottom of the water-pitcher rests upon these projections and allows the dripping water from the outside of the pitcher to fall between them and allow the bottom of the pitcher to become I upsetting when the pitcher is tipped upon its edge in pouring out water. B B B are projections arranged around the interior of the holder A and projecting inwardly from the sides thereof, leaving a free space in the center for containing the water. These projections rise about one-half the height of the sides, and may be of any size or form desired, and sufiicient in number for the bottom of a pitcher to rest upon, the whole to be constructed of porcelain or similar material, and may be decorated and glazed so as to match the crockery or chinaware with which they are to be used; or, if desirable, they may be constructed of any suitable metal.
What I claim as my invention is-- As a new article of manufacture, a porcelain or metal ice-pitcher holder, A, constructed with projections B B B, or their equivalents, when arranged substantially in the manner described, as and for the purposes set forth.
