IMPROVEMENT lN LAMP-CHIMNEY PROTECTORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N o. l32,606, 1pted October 29, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, EDWARD STERN and SIGMUND BLAU, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Lamp-Chimney Protector, of which the following is a specification:
Our invention consists in a lamp-chimney protector, consisting of two bars pivoted together at one end and provided with hooks at the other, so as to be adapted to use in chimneys of varying size.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a side elevation of our chimney-protector in its most approved form suspended in a chimney which is shown in dotted lines, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the protector taken in a plane perpendicular to that of Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A B represent two small flat bars of metal pivoted together and pointed at G, and fitted with hooks D or equivalent extensions at the upper end suitable for hanging within the chimney from the top. The bars are preferably long enough to extend about half way down to the flame, and preferably terminate in a point in the vertical axis of the chimney. They are pivoted together to adapt them to chimneys of any size.
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent r A lamp-chimney protector, consisting of the bars A B, pivoted at O and having the end hooks D D, arranged and applicable as described.
