Description

C. W. 'DILKS GAME APPARATUS- APPLICATION 1111p MAR. 26. 1919.
1,325,355. Patented Dec. 16, 1919.
UNITED STATES PATENT QEFICE.
CHARLES W. DILKS, OF PLAINFIELD, NEW JERSEY.
GAME APPARATUS.
Application filed March 26, 1919.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES W. DILKS, a citizen of the United States, residin at Plainfield, in the county of Union and tate of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to game apparatus in which a revolving plate or disk is provided and which has pockets for the reception of a ball which is operated by centrifugal force as the plate is spun around; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical section through an apparatus constructed according to this invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same.
A stand or base 2 is provided having a tapering central support or column 3 which is preferably hollow. A hemispherical projection 4. is provided at the top of the said support. A plate or disk 5 having a peripheral flange 6 is journaled on the support 3,
and is provided with a tapering sleeve 7; which projects upwardly from its center part, and engages freely with the tapering portion of the support. The top portion of the sleeve 7 has a flat bearing 8 which rests on the projection 4 so that the plate 5 can be spun around very freely. The plate 5 has a flat surface 9 which is inclined upwardly from the bottom part of the central bearing sleeve to the flange 6, and'this surface has pockets 10 formed in it. These Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 16, 1919.
Serial No. 285,219.
pockets are of any approved size and shape, and they can be arranged in any predetermined pattern.
The ball 12 is placed on the plate, and the plate is spun around so that the ball is thrown outwardly by centrifugal force, and may lodge in one or another of the pockets before the plate comes to a standstill. The plate and its support are preferably formed of glassware, chinaware, or other similar hard material, and the plate may be variously ornamented to give it an attractive appearance.
What I claim is:
1. A game apparatus, comprising a base formed of ceramic material and provided with a conical support, and a game plate also formed of ceramic material and provided with an upwardly projecting conical sleeve which is journaled on the said support so that the plate revolves at the lower part of the support.
2. A game apparatus, comprising a base formed of ceramic material and provided with a conical support having an antifriction pivot at its top, and a game plate also formed of ceramic material and provided with an upwardly projecting conical sleeve which is journaled on the said support and which has a surface at its top which rests on the said pivot, said game plate being arranged to revolve at the lower part of the said support.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature.
CHARLES W. DILKS.
