To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, JOHN D. CAMPBELL and \VILLIAM H. Hone, both residing at Sea Bright, in the county of Monmouth and State of New Jersey, both citizens of the United States, have jointly invented certain new and useful Improvements in Antirattler and Looking Devices for Blinds; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same.

Our invention relates to improvements in an antirattler and locking device for blinds or shutters, and more particularly to a device for preventing the rattling of the pivoted slats and operating rod of a blind and the locking of the blind.

It is exceedingly annoying, especially at night, to hear the noise made by the rattling of the blinds throughout the house which is not conducive to the sleeping of a person in a normal condition much less one who vention is to provide means to obviate or eliminate entirely all rattling or noise in connection with the blinds.

It further has for its object to provide means for the purpose described which may be attached to the blind without disfiguring or inarring the same.

It further has for its object to provide means for attachment to the inside of the blind to take the place ofthe lath or batten usually placed on the outside of the blinds and nailed or otherwise secured to the win dow casing and which must be put on and removed from the outside of the blinds.

It further has for its object to provide means by which the blinds are held closed and afford protection when the sashes or windows are open.

It finally has for its object to provide.

a device for the purpose described which is exceedingly simple, inexpensive and durable and compact in construction and easy and efiective in use.

The invention consists in the several features and in the construction, combination and arrangement of features as more fully hereinafter described and claimed.

Referring to the drawings Figure 1 is an inside face view of a pair blinds with our invention applied thereto.

In the drawings in which similar reference characters denote similar parts throughout the several views, 1 and 2 represent a pair of blinds or shutters of well known design and construction, each having a plurality of pivoted slats 3 and an operating rod 4 therefor pivotally connected to each of the slats. v

The inner face of each of the blind stiles 5 and 6 of the blinds is provided with a screw 7 the head of which projects there from. V

Our invention comprises a frame 8 made preferably of some spring metal, but which may be made of any other suitable material desired, and which is provided with loops 9 and 10 shown as stirrup shaped one at each end and a narrow central or middle portion 11, the ends 12 of the frame terminating in the loop 9 and being provided with a sleeve 13 covering and securing the ends 12 together.

The narrow central portion 11 is provided with supports or brackets 14 each support being provided with a clamping lever 15 pivoted thereto having a'handle 16 and a claw 17 at its inner end, the lever being preferably formed of a single piece of sheet metal stamped into the desired shape.

The claws of the levers are adapted to be inserted under and engage the heads of the screws 7 and the levers moved downward against the pressure of the spring frame and the handles locked by being inserted in sleeves 18 slidably mounted on the narrow central portion 11 of the frame 8.

; Thenarrow central. portion 11 of the sri 7 invent-ion to the inside faces of the blinds, the loops 9 and 10 are placed against the operating rods of the blinds, the claws of the clamping levers are engaged with the heads of the screws 7, the clamping levers turned on their pivots and moved downward causing the arched spring portion 19 of the frame to be depressed or pressed downward until the levers are in alinement t ierewith, when the sleeves 18 are slid along the frame and over the handles thus loching the handles against the tension of the spring arched portion 19 resulting in the blinds, the pivoted slats and operating rods being held and fastened so securely that all. rattling is absolutely eliminated or prevented.
