invented certain new and useful Improvements in Soap-Trays, of whichthe following is a specification.
.This invention relates to devices designed for holding soap, and adapted to be sup ported over a sink, laundry tub, lavatory basin, and the like.
The invention has for its object to provide to a wall, but which is provided with a novel and improved means whereby it can be sup ported by the hot and cold water faucets of the sink or other appliance, the holder be ing placed between the faucets, and the/supporting means being capable of adjustment according to the distance between the few nets, to enable the holder to be attached to differently spaced faucets.
With the object stated in view, the invention consists in a combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed, and in order that the samema-y be better understood, reference is had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification.
In the drawiecg---- Figure l is a perspective view of the de-v vice supported by and between two faucets; 2 1s a bottom. plan view of the device; Fig. 8 is a side elevation thereof, and Fig. 4 is a cross section.
Referring specifically to the drawing, the soap holder is a shallow, openovork tray or dish constructed entirely of wire, and having a rectangular or other desirable contour. The bottom of the holder is composed of spaced and parallel wire cross bars 5 and longitudinal wire bars 6 having upward bends at their ends which are attached to a wire-frame 7. The tray is suitably dimensioned to support one or more pieces of soap, and to seat between the hot and cold water faucets 8 of the sink, basin, or other appliance, asshown in Fig. 1, and at the ends of the tray are hooks which are engageable with the faucets for holding the tray snspended therebetween, said hooks being so- Specfificction of Letters Extent.

hooks, and thus prevent the latter constructed that they may be engaged over the body of faucets 01" various styles Without interfering with the operation thereof.
' Inasmuch as the faucets of sinks, lanndry tubs, basins and similar appliances are spaced apart various distances, the hooks hereinbefore referred to are made adjustable so that they may be spread and thus set according to such spacing of the faucets. This adjustment is e'fiected by having the hooks slidably connected to the tray, so that they may be extended from the ends thereof the required distance to properly engage the faucets. For this purpose, each hook is formed of a single piece of wire which is bent intermediate its ends to form two latei Patented new. a, isle.
ally spaced shanks 9 connected at one end hooks are slidably connected to the bottom of the tray, so that they may be extended,
more or less from the ends of the latter ac cording to the spacing of the faucets. This sliding connection is effected by making downward bends 12 in some of the bottom cross bars 5 of the tray, said'bends being dimensioned to seat the shanks 9. The inner ends of the shanks 9 are bent down, shown at 13, to form stopswhich cotipcrato with the inner ones of the aforesaid cross bars to limit the outward movement of the from ing detached from the tray. The shanks 9 are beneath 1 the cross bars 5 which are without the seats 12, whereby the shanks are held in the seats and prevented 'from be coming detached from the tray, and the seats prevent the shanks from slipping transversely of the tray bottom.
It will be evident from the foregoing that there has been provided a soap holder which is simple in construction, and the supporting means of which are readily adjustable accordingto the spacing; between the faucets which are to support the device.
I claim:
A soap holder comprising a tray, and esp porting hooks, at opposite ends thereof adapted toengage a faucet, said hooks halving shanks which are slidabl connected to the bottom of the tray and :uhustable to hold 5 the hooks projected variable distances from the ends of the tray, the bottom of the tray having cross bars provided. with downward bends, seats for the hook shanks andsaid r tray bottom having other cross bars positloned above sald shanks.
In test-unony whereof I afhx my slgnature in the presence of two witnesses.
