ERNEST BAOHER, OF FINDLAY, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND JOHN H. RHAMY, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT lN BLACKSMITHS BUTTERISES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 132,044, dated October 8, 1872.

This invention relates to an improvement on a-blacksmiths butteris patented to John H. Rhamy June 11, 1872, Letters Patent No. 127,708, and consists of a simple lever, bifurcated and provided with a curved lateral slot,
- in combination with a simple lever provided with a paring-knife, and a simple lever slotted and provided with an anvil-block, the object of the invention being to produce a blacksmiths butteris cheap, efficient, and of great leverage, for the purpose of paring horses hoofs, and of cutting ofif nails therein.
In the drawing, A is a simple lever, having a bifurcation, B, and a curved lateral slot, 0. D is a simple lever, provided with a paringknife, E, having its fulcrum in a verticallyslotted lever, F, provided with an anvil-block, G. A flange, H, upon the under side of the lever F, enters the bifurcation B in the lever A, and a ,pin, I, forms the fulcrum for the latter. The head of the lever D, or that portion near the paring-knife E, is of about the same dimensions as the head of the lever F; but the remaining portion is made small enough to pass through the vertical slot J in the lever F, where a pin, K, forms its fulcrum, and into the bifurcation B, where a pin, L, fixed in the end of the lever D, works in the curved lateral slot 0 and forms the connection between the levers A and D. .The operation of the invention is obvious. v
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The lever A provided with the bifurcation B and the curved lateral slot 0, in combination with the lever D provided with the parin g-knife E, and the lever F provided with the anvilblock G, flange H, and vertical slot J, substantially as and for the purposes hereinbefore set forth.
