Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 21, 1919.
Application filed January 16, 1919. Serial No. 271,442.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ULRIo HEBERT, residing at 47th avenue, King Edward Park, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Swings; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
The invention relates to improvements in a swingparticularly adapted for children and consists in providing one or more movable seats supported on movable rods and a handle secured on said rods whereby they are actuated.
The object of the invention is to provide a swing having novel features that can be easily operated by pulling the handle backward so that a child may have a sure control over it and thus prevent accidents as usually happen in the ordinary swing operated by a foot board.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a side elevation of the swing,
and 6 and 7 are U-shape supporting rods pivotally secured to said foot board 4, and rigidly secured in the laterally disposed blocks 8 on which are provided the handles 9. The upper ends of said bars 3 are pivotally secured to said blocks 8, so that when the handle 9 is operated as disclosed in dotted lines in Fig. 1, an oscillating forward and backward section will be given to the foot board 4.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. A swing comprising a base, standards pivotally secured in said base, an operating handle pivotally secured to said standards, a movable foot board having a seat thereon, supporting bars pivotally secured to said foot board and rigidly secured at their upwardly projecting ends to said operating handle substantially as described.
2. A swing comprising a base, a plurality of U-shape bars pivotally mounted in said base and projecting upwardly on each side of said base an operating handle pivotally secured on each side of said base on said upwardly projecting U-shape bars, a movable foot board, upwardly projecting supporting bars secured to said foot board and to said operating handle substantially as described.
Signed at Montreal, Quebec, Canada, this 1st day of May, 1918.
ULRIC HEBERT.
