Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, JAMES G. MIKULA, citizen of the United States of America, residing at Birchwood, in the county of Washburn and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Cue-Tips, of which the following is a specification.

The object of the invention is to provide a new and novel form of one tip and one of the features of this invention is the provision of a tip in which it is not necessary to use chalk, the tipping being of a character that will not slip off the balls when in use. The tip is composed of a leather body to which there is attached a suitable covering, this covering being of a character of material that will preclude the tips slipping on the cue ball, even though no chalk be used on the tip.

The invention is illustrated and described in a specific embodiment to which, however, it is not to be restricted. The right is reserved to make such changes or alterations as the actual reduction to practice may suggest, in so far as such changes or alterations are compatible in spirit with the anneXed claims.

In the accompanying drawings, in which the same numerals of reference designate the same parts throughout the several figures of the drawings:

' As shown, the tip comprises a disklike body portion 1 made preferably of leather and formed in the center with a globular protuberance upstanding from one face thereof. The bottom edges of the protuberance 2 are inset from the marginal edge of the disklike body portion 1 and over this protuberance there is spread an outer covering 3, the same being preferably of deerskin which is soft and pliable. This outer covering 3 is secured to the protuberance 2 and to the body portion 1 at the marginal edge of the latter preferably being glued and the whole tip presents the appearance of the zone of a sphere, the covering forming the ball-engaging portion of the tip and the bottom face of the disk portion constituting the cue-engaging portion which is secured to the end of the one by glue or other suitable means.

The character of the covering 2 is such that an anti-slipping medium is provided for the tip thus making it unnecessary to chalk the tip, although, if it is so desired, the chalking may be resorted to without damage to the tip. Further the tip can be readily cleaned when dirty by gasolene or any other suitable cleanser.

The invention having been described what is claimed as new and useful is:

1. A cue tip comprising a disklike body portion formed with a globular protuberance on one side, and a flexible covering spread over said protuberance, said covering being of a material having a high coefficient of friction.

2. A cue tip comprising a disklike body portion formed with a globular protuberance upstanding from one face thereof, the lower edge of the protuberance being inset from the marginal edge of the body portion, and a deer-skin covering spread over the protuberance and secured marginally to the body portion.
