POST-MOLD.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Aug. 26, 1919.
Application filed August 25, 1916. SeriaI No. 116,831.
To all 'whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. Hass, a citizen of the United States, residing at Perry, in the county of Noble and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Post-Molds; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to molds of the type for molding hollow posts, and an object of the invention is the provision of a mold of this character which will be of novel construction, cheap to manufacture, durable in construction and eflicient in operation.
Other objects will appear and be better understood from that embodiment of my invention of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part thereof, in which:
Figure l is a vertical elevation of the mold,
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional elevation, taken through Fig. 1,
Fig. 8 is a vertical elevation of the type of post formed by the mold and showing the same in operative position.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the mold is shown consisting of a base formed of a disk shaped portion 1 having superposed thereon a ring-like member 2. Associated with the base is an inverted substantially conical shaped outer casing 8, the opposite endsv of which are open and the lower or restricted end of which is snugly fitted within the ring-like member 2, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing. The casing 3 is formed of a single blank of metal bent into the shape shown in Figs. l and 2 and the said metal is held in casing formation by means of a plurality of binding elements 4, which encircle the periphery of the casing, as shown more particularly in Fig. l.
An inverted substantially conical shaped core is removably fitted within the casing 3 and has its lower or restricted end removably received by a central opening formed in the disk 1 of the base. The core includes a metallic shield 5 `within which is fitted a solid filler 6, formed preferably of wood. When the core is in operative position the same is spaced from the inner surface of the shell 3, and the upper end of the core projects slightly above the upper end of the shell 3, so as to provide a gripping surface to admit of the convenient removal of the core from the shell after the plastic material has been molded into ost formation.
It is to be understood) that various changes may be resorted to in the construction, form and arrangement of the several parts without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
.Having thus described my invention what I claim as new is:
A hollow mold for fence posts comprising a' supporting base formed of a relatively thick disk shaped member having a plane lower surface, said member having a central tapered opening extending therethrough, a ring mounted on the upper surface of the member and extending iush with the outer surface thereof, the inner walls of the ring member being inclined downwardly and outwardly, a vertically disposed frusto-conical shaped casing having its lower end frictionally seated within the ring, a vertically disposed frusto-conical core arranged within the casing and spaced from the sides thereof and having its lower end frictionally seated in the tapered opening in the member, the lower surface of the core extending flush with the plane lower surface of the member, as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I afHx my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM A. HESS. Witnesses J. H. FOSTER, C. D. BENIVGHT.
