Description

0.'A. ANTHONY.
Improvement in Churns.
No. 131,076.- Patented Sep'.3,1872'.
Invento ,dttameys UNI ED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ORREN A. ANTHONY, OF MAYFIELD, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN CHURNS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No, 131,026, dated September 3, 1872.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ORREN A. ANTHONY, of Mayfield, in the county of Fulton and in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ghurns; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a churn, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to'the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my churn, and Fig.2 shows the construction of the churndasher.
A represents a box of any suitable dimensions, provided with two legs, B B, on each side, which legs are placed in an inclined position, meeting in the center above the box, and forming bearings for a rocking-shaft, G. This rocking-shaft thus extends across the center of thebox, and from the center extends downward a short bar, E, to the lower end of which is secured a head, D, running parallel with the rocking-shaft. From this head extends downward a center bar, H, and a series of slats, G
G, on each side thereof. The center bar H is beveled, as shown, its lower end terminating in a sharp edge. The slats G G on the two sides of the center bar H are set at opposite angles, as shown in Fig. 2, and on top of the head D is placed a bar, J, in the center, the ends of which are beveled and extend beyond the sides of the head D. Upon one end of the shaft 0 is attached a lever, L, by means of which said shaft and the entire dasher are rocked back and forth. By this dasher the cream is thoroughly broken up and rapidly converted into butter.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The within-described churn-dasher, consisting of the head D, center bar H, slats G G, and beveled bar J, all constructed and ar ranged substantially as herein set forth.
2. The combination of the box A, rocking shaft (3, with lever L, bar E, head D, center bar H, slats G G, and beveled bar J, all constructed and arranged substantially as herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 25th day of May, 1872.
ORREN A. ANTHONY. Witnesses:
MELVIN GREEN, H. G. ENos.
