IMPROVEMENTJN NEWSPAPER-FILES.
Specification describing a new and useful Improvement in Paper-File, invented by WIL- LIAM R. MGNORTON, ot' Livingston, in the county of Sumter' and State of Alabama.
My improvement in paper-les consists of- -forated bars at the back otl the clamping-bar,
and the two clamping-bars being clamped firmly against the 'paper by the said keys, which being slotted are driven under the pins against ,the paper-clamping bar along the perforated bars which come in the slots.
Figure l is a side elevation of my improved paper-tile, and Fig. 2 is a top View.
Similar letters of reference indicate. corresponding parts. v
A and B are the bars between which the papers are to be clamped. The one, A, has two thin dat metal bars, O, projecting' at right angles from the side which acts on the paper, one near each end. Said bars have a series of pin-holes, D, as shown, and they pass through the bar B, which has mortises suitably provided for it. E represents the binding-keys, and F the pins, by which, together with these perforated bars, the bars A B are clamped together.
The papers to be filed are placed between the bars A B, the bars U being passed through them in holes punched in the 1n argins therefor, either beforehand or by forcing the ends of said bars O through them when they are placed on the bar A; then, after the bar Bis adjusted, the keys are forced under the pins F, and there' by fasten the bars A B together. As the package of filed papers increases, the pins are shifted outward in the different holes of the bars C. The pins F and keys are attached to the bar B by cords or straps H, to prevent being misplaced.
Havingth us described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Pat ent The combination of the clamping-bars A B, perforated bars C, keys E, and pins F, substantially in the manner described.
XVILLIAM R. MCNORTON.
