To all fwwm t may concern Be it known that LJQHN H. BREWER, a citizen of the United States,v residing `at Louisville in the county of Jefferson Iand State ofl ientucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Camp- Beds, of which the following isa specification, reference being hadr to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to certain improvements in camp beds and has relation more particularly toa device of this general character especially designed and"adapted for use in connection -with thel supporting structure of a tent.

And it is an object of the invention to provide a novel andV improved `bed of this general character vw 'ich may be' readily and conveniently assembled into 'operative position and which may be compacted to occupy a minimum of space when not in use. f

It is also an Object of the invention to provide novel and improved means whereby a plurality of beds or bunks may be supported in predetermined vertical spaced relation.

`The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved camp bed wherein certain important advantages are attained' and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use,l as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.

In order that my invention may be the better understood I will now proceed to describe thesame with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein:

As disclosed in ings F denotes a supporting frame for a tent and which includes the horizontally dis osedl and substantially parallel rods l.

In order to prevent the supporting members 14 and 15 having endwise movement through the sleeves S the portions of said supporting members ext-ending within the sleeve are preferably reduced to afford the stop shoulders 16. It is also to be understood that when the cots C are extended the ends of the strips or members 3 are connected by the cross strips 17 so that the cot C will be effectively maintained in operative position.

When the cots are not in use the supporting lmembers 14 and 15 together with the cross strips 17 are removed and each of the cots rolled toward the frame structure F and maintained in such condition by holding straps or the like (not shown).

In the form of invention illustrated in Fig. 6 F denotes a central vertical frame provided at each end and at a predetermined distance below the top thereof with the cross member 18. The frame F at each of the 18 serves as a support for 19. The frame F also includes the vertically spaced and longitudinally disposed rods 1EL with which are adapted to be engaged the members M co-acting, in a manner as has hereinbcfore been set forth with a side member or strip 3 of a cot structure C. As illustrated in Fig. 6 it is to be noted that the cot structures C are arranged in vertical .series at opposite sides of the intermediate frame F so that an increased number of cot structures C may be arranged within a single tent. Also in this arrangement it is to be noted that I have each vertical tier comprising four cot structures. As illustrated in the form of invention disclosed by Figs. 7 and 8, each of the sockets S is provided at its inner side and at substantially its longitudinal center with an eye member or barrel 2O having its bore horizontally directed and freely disposed through said eye member or barrel is an end portion of a link 21. rlChe opposite end portion of the link 21 is pinched or recessed the canopy as at 22 to receive the pinched or recessed portion 23 formed in an adjacent end portion of the rigid loop 4". The loop 4b is adapted to co-act with a side strip of a cot structure in the same manner as has been set forth relative to a loop or engaging member 4a. With the use of the link 21 a direct pull is assured especially when a cot structure is occupied as is also true of the construction shown in the preceding figures relative to the members M and the rigid loop or engaging members 4.

In the form of my invention illustrated in Fig. 9 I disclose a construction whereby members 24 suitably secured to the tree or other support T at a predetermined point above the cot structure C. As herein disclosed the adjacent ends of the flexible members 24 are secured to an annular member 25 adapted to4 be disposed over a spike 26 driven into the tree or other support T. It is to be understood however that other means may be employed for connecting the members 24 to the support T as by lashing or the like. Co-acting with the second side strip 3 of the cot structure C are the supporting legs 11 provided with the plates or bases 12 for contact directly upon the ground or other surface.

From the foregoing description, itis thought to be obvious that a camp bed constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modifica-V principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice eX- cept as hereinafter claimed.

I claim:

1. A camp bed comprising, in combina tion, a supporting structure, a cot including side strips, one of said strips being secured to the supporting structure, loops engaged with the opposite end portions of the second strip, sleeves, each of said sleeves being provided with a barrel through which an end portion of la loop is directed, said sleeves being arranged at substantially right angles to said second strip, and supporting members engageable with said sleeves.

2. In combination with a supporting structure, a plurality of cots arranged in vertically spaced relation and includinof side strips, a side strip of each of the cots eing engaged with the supporting structure, sleeves carried by the opposite end portions of the second strip of each vof the cots and arranged substantially at right angles thereto, a ground engaging member co-acting with the second strip of the lower cot and removable members interposed between the second strips of the cots and engageable with the sleeves carried thereby.

3. A camp bed comprising in Combination,
