To aZZwLom t may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL WM. DALBERG, a citizen of the United States, residingl at Deary, in the, county of Latah, State of Idaho, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Flash-Lights and Mirrors; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others sln'lled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to an electric pocket flashlight and more particularly to the class of combined iashlights and mirrors.
The primary obj ect of the invention is the provision of a flashlight of this character wherein the construction thereof permits the use of the same in the ordinary well known manner for the illumination of the electric bulb for lighting purposes, and the lid or cover on the casing of-said iashlight can be open and carries a mirror so that thesame Wlll be useful and the electric bulb when illuminated will enable the mirror to be used ful for the purposes named, and inexpensive to manufacture.
with this and 01311615 objects in view the in- I vention consists in the features of construction, combination and arra ement of parts as will be hereinafter fullylescribed, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and
, pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 isa side elevation of a iashlight constructed in accordance with the invention; Y v
Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof;
Fig. 3 is a plan view showing the casing in open position;
Fig 4 is a vertical longitudinal sectional View.;
Fig. 5 is a vertical transverse sectional view;
6 is an end edge elevation showing 60 the cover or lid section of the casing open.
Similar reference characters indlcate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring tov the drawing in detail, A
designates generally the main body section and B the s wingin lid or cover section of the casing of the ashlight, the details o1 which will be hereinafter fully described. The main body section A comprises a back Wall 10, side walls 11 and an end wall 12 respectively, thus the opposite end being open and also the front or top of the body section and within the latter is adapted to be' received a dry cell batteryg 13 of the ordinary ywell known construction having the resilient -poles or contacts 14 and 15 respectively.
The battery isremov'ably itted'within the body section and t e pole or contact 14 engages with'an velectric bulb 16 of the usual construction which is detachably vscrewed into a socket 17 formed on an ear 18 at right angles to the back wall of the body section and integral with a hinge 19 fixed to the back wall 10 at the open end of the body section and swingingly connecting the cover or lid section B thereto. Mounted on one side wall 11.0f the body section. next' to .the contact 15 is a resilient switch 20 which 1s adapted toT close the circuit between the battery 13 and the bulb A16l for' illuminating the latter, the switch 20' being, normally open and is manually operated.
,The-lid orcover section B closes the -open end and front or top of thebodysection A and has formed in its end closing wall an opening 21 for the electric bulb 16 to permit the projecting of the light from the casing of the iashlight when said casing is closed in the usual manner. Mountedinteriorly of the cover or 'lid section B is a mirror frame 22 for retaining a mirror 23 which on theI opening of the lid or'cover section B can be used in the usual manner and on vthe closin of the switch 20 the bulb 16 will be illuml-v nated to li ht the mirror for the use thereof in the dar Formed in the lid or cover section B at the back of the mirror 23' is a pocket 24 for receiving a comb 25A which is readily removable therefrom for use by the o rator of the Hashlight, the pocket 24 being ex- .tended through the reeend of the lid or cover section'B,Which endV is formed with a notch 26 top'ermit easy access to` the comb 25 for its removal therefrom. v
The side flange edges 27 of the lid or cover section -B are formed with indentationsyproviding latch lugs 28 for frictionally engagingin holes or apertures 29' provided in the sidewalls-10pt the body section 'of the casing so as to retain the lid vor cover section closed, y
The hinge 19 at opposite ends thereof is 'formed with AWings 30 serving as' guards for thebattery I3. The end Wall`12 of the body section closes the open end 'of the end and side, a swinging lid adapted to close said end and side of the casing, a mirror mounted on the insidebf the lid, and an electrically lighted bulb carried in the casing Iand exposed through the lid and positioned to 'illuminate the mirror. when' the lid is in open positlon. I
2. In adiashlight-"of the character ,tde-
scribed, acasing having'an initially open end 1and side, a swinging lid adapted to close said end and side of the casing, a'
mirror mounted on the inside of the lid, an electrically lighted bulb carried in the casing and exposed through the lid` When in closed/position and positioned to illuminate the mirror when the lid is in open position, and means supported by the casing for controlling the lighting ofthe iashlight. ,A
3. In a` flashlight of the character described, a casing having an initially' open end and side, a swinging lid adapted to close said end and side of the casing,ka mirror mounted on the inside of the lid, an electrically lighted'bulb carried in thefncasing and exposed through the lid when in closed position and positioned to illuminate the mirror 'when thelid is lnvopen position, and means supported by the casing for controlling the lighting of the Hashlight lid,` the light being formed With a pocket adapted to receive a. comb accessiblethrough one end of said lid. f
In testimony whereof, IY aiix my signature in the presence'of two Witnesses.
