Description

GEORGE HYOKIGHI IWAMOTO, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
POLISHING AND FINISHING COMPOSITION.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may concern."
Be it known that I, Gnoaon Hromom IwAMo'ro, a subject of the Emperor of Japan, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented a new and useful Polishing and Finishing Composition, of which the following is a specification.
The composition forming the subject-matter hereof, is intended more particularly for cleaning, polishing, and refinishing original wood, metal, and leather finished surfaces which may have become soiled, Worn, or dulled from use and exposure, and is designed for producing an exceedingly smooth, durable, elastic, and moisture-proof finish admitting of a brilliant polish.
The composition or mixture is adapted for cleaning and resurfacing cars, carriages, automobiles, and furniture, and interior walls and fixtures of all descriptions, and for producing a durable and satisfactory surface with a very considerable saving in time, labor, and material.
Another advantage of this composition is the combination with ingredients effective for producing a high polish, of ingredients effective as a germicide, disinfectant, and bug exterminator.
Other advantages of this compound are that one coat or application is all that is 1 eceesary, no rubbing down process is required, no heat or abrasion is required to remove the original surface preparatory to the application of this compound, and the compound dries quickly.
The composition or mixture which forms the subject of this description is preferably made of the following ingredients, mechanically compounded and corporated in the following proportions, viz:
Oil of camphor 1 scruple.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 13, 1919.
Application filed July 18, 1918. Serial No. 245,508.
The ingredients are thoroughly mixed by agitation, and when mixed, are ready for application for the purposes set forth.
0 the above-named compound should be added a proportion of balsam fir or commercial shellac, or other recognized equivalents, in accordance with the work to be treated; the proportions being as follows: the mixed compound, two parts, commercial shellac, one part.
The coating resulting from the use of this polishing compound, is highly elastic and waterproof, and thus effectively serves to protect the wood, metal, or leather which it covers, is adapted to be applied with one stroke or movement of a brush, dries quickly, is tough and will not crack, and, in addition to the purposes set forth, may be em-- ployed for analogous purposes and in various analogous ways.
What is claimed is:
1. A composition of matter comprising raw linseed oil, five drams, petroleum distillate oil, eleven drams, oil of camphor, one scruple, commercial shellac, eight drams, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
2. A waterproof composition, comprising raw linseed oil, petroleum distillate, and oil of camphor, mixed in about the proportions set forth.
3. A waterproof composition for furniture, leather, and automobiles, comprising raw linseed oil, petroleum distillate, oil of camphor, and commercial shellac, mixed as stated.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixed my signature this 6th day of July, 1918.
GEORGE HYOKICHI IWAMOTO.
In presence of- 'Fnnnnnro M. Knmrnr, J. W. Masrao.
