To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CYNTHIA M. TREKELL,

a citizen of the United States, residing at Randlett, in the county of Cotton, State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in ater-Filters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in filters.

One object of the present invention is to provide a novel and improved filter which is adapted to be used under an ordinary faucet in a sink, and which is arranged to be swung out of the way when not in use.

Another object is to provide a novel and improved device of this character and novel means for suspending the same, whereby the device may be used for straining or filtering other liquids than water.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.

Referring articularly to the accompanying drawing there is shown a metal reeeptacle which includes the intermediate cylindrical portion 10 having the lower end tapering, as at 11 and connected to a smaller vertical cylindrical portion 12. At the point of juncture between the portion 10 and 11,

there is formed an inwardly extending bead 13 which supports a removable screen disk member 14-. The upper end of the portion 10 is formed with an outwardly extending circumferential head 15, the purpose of which will presently appear. An inverted funnel-shaped member 16 is removably fitted in the upper end of the cylindrical portion 10 of the device. Mounted in the lower end of the cylindrical portion 10, below the screen disk, in position to prevent sagging of said disk, is a spoked disk member 17. Engaged around the portion 10 is a ring 18 which forms a part of the section 19 of the supporting arm. This arm also includes the section 20 which has its inner end turned downwardly, as at 21 for reception in the opening 22 of the bracket 23- which is secured to the wall 24: adjacent the faucet 25. The outer portion of the section 20 is hollow and receives therein the straight portion of the section 19, screws 26 being carried by the section 20 for engagement with the section 19 to hold said section in different slidable positions within the section 20. Thus the arm is capable of being lengthened or shortened, as desired, and as conditions require.

The device is so mounted on the bracket that it may be swung into position to dispose its upper end directly beneath the mouth of the faucet, and then slipped upwardly through the ring 18 to engage its upper end on the mouth of the faucet. When not to be used it is slipped downwardly from the faucet until the head 15 rests 011 the ring 18, when the bracket is swung to one side. It will also be noted that it may be swung into position to permit other liquids to be poured therethrough, such as milk or the like.

As shown in Fig. 3, of the drawing, the upper end is lined with cork, rubber, or other similar material 27 which is generally used in filters of this type, so that the device will hold frictionally on the mouth of the faucet to prevent being dislodged by the force of the flow of water.
