An important object 1s to produce a bath Y of the kind described adapted for eld use,

that is for the use of soldiers, workmen, farmersand others who can `'readilymake use of a portable device, but by reason of circumstances find it impossible to make use of one of the permanent vbuilt in apparatuses found m common use.

'lo this end, my invention consists in the' novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described,

' is the bottom of the room, which is preferably water tight, and drains into a well-3. 4 is the front of the device provided with a step 5 by means of which the party taking the bath steps over the wall 4 and into the part inclosed by the floor 2 and the walls secured thereto. 5 is a rear wall. 6--6 are suitable supports,preferably metal rods secured to the supports 1, or Iin any other referred mannen and extending upwar a sucient height for the purpose desired. r1`he rods or supports 6 carry upon the upper end a circular curtain supporting rod 7, and at the bottom a similar rod 8. A curtain" 9 of canvas or-other suitable material is supported by and extends between the rings 7 and 8, being strung thereon by means of rings 10 or any other preferred means. This permits the curtain to slide upon the rings to open the device for thepurpose of cleaning 0r airing the Same.

At the back of the device 1 have provided means for containing the liquid for the bath. In the preferred construction there are two vessels side by side marked 11 and 12. One of these vessels, asv 12, has a fire pot 13 for any preferred fuel arranged below it, and if necessary, a smoke or gas outlet 14. By this means the fluid or water in the vessel 12 may be warmed or heated as desired. 15 is a door-by which admission may be had to the'fire box 13, and 16is a similar door opening into lan ash pot 17. llt will thus beseen that one vessel, for illustration as 11, may contain cold water,y while the other, as 12, may provide hot water, the two being mixed as desired by means of the piping connecting the two to the pump. 18 is a pipe arranged tank 11 to the chamber of the pump`19, while 20 is a similar pipe to conduct water from the hot water vessel 12. rihe pipe 18 is provided with a valve 21, and 20 is provided with a valve 22 by which the flowof water through the pipes may be controlled. The tube or pipe of the pump 23 is extended downward into the well 3, and has secured at its end a suitable screen or filter material 24, A valve 25 inthe pipe 23 gives control to the pump so that the Huid may be pumped either from the vessels 11 and 12, or from thewell 3 as desired.

A pipe 26 extends from the pump upward near the top of the room and thence bent forward and downward, and is provided 'with a spray 27. aumillary spray ics 28 may be provided if desired, controlled by a valve 29. This spray is placed. at any preferredpoint, preferably in a posltlon to give a horizontal delivery, While the spray 27 is arranged to secure a vertical delivery. 30 is a removable floor board upon Which the bather stands. 31 is a drain/cock to the Well 3. 32 is a valve in the pipe ,26 by means of which thedelivery through the spray 27 may be cut ofi", giving all of the delivery through spray 28. 33 are stay braces extending from the supports to the upper ring to prevent the colla se of the devlce.

As stated, it isdesira le that the canvas or fabric Wall of the room should overlap so as ,to give privacy to the room and prevent the splashing of the Water.,V l prefer to `accomplish this by means of the substantially concentric sector rings, shown in Fig. 5, numbered 34 andv35. Une 4free end of the curtain is strung by means of vvire rings 36 upon the support 34, While the other is supported by the rings 37 upon the support 35.

, This permits the :tree ends of the curtain to 'overlap as indicated, giving for a considerable distance a double thickness of the material at that point.

It is lsome times desirable to secure a steam or vapor bath, and my device is Well adapted to that purpose. As shown -in Figs. 7 and 8, a pipe 38 is connected near4 the top to the hot Water chamber 12 and 4extends into the room. A valve 39 serves to 'control the same, and the heat may be raised in the iire box to a point Where vapor or steam is given ed' and its admission intov j the room controlled by means of the valve 39. In this form of device it is desirable of course to cover the room. l accomplish this by extending a canvas or other suitable cover over the top as at 40, securing the same to the rings` or top of the device in y any. preferred manner.

. dischargingl near the Fig. 9 shows a simple modification for heating the water in the hot Water tank. As here shown, the V'tank 12 has its bottom substantially in line with the bottom of the room, and a gasolene or other suitable burner 41 properly inclosed in the casing 42 serves to heat the Water. A suitable receptacle for the heating medium, as at 43, may be carried by the-receptacle 12 or in any other preferred manner, a pipe 44 leading from the fuel receptacle to the burner 41. From the casing 42 the excess heat from the burner may be 'conducted beneath the Hoor to the room by means of a pipe 45,

front thereof, or conducted upward as near the front as preferred..

The mode of operation is apparent. The bather standing within the room 4closes the entrance, and by manipulating valves 21 and 22, and operatmg the pump 19, delivers a spray through either one or both of the Lacasse spraying devices 27 and 28 at thepreferredtemperature. A large amount of Water is not ynecessary to secure satisfactory Vresults by reason of the fact that the Water is not Wasted, but may be used agaim Thus the Water as it falls upon the floor 2 drains into the Well 3, and the bather, When a sucient amount of Huid has been used in the initial process, may then close the valves 2'1 and v22 and open 'the valves 25. This permits the pumping of theaccumulated Water in the Well 3 through the iilter material at the end of the tube 23 upward through thepipe 26 as desired. Thus the Water may be used over as desired by the bather, serving to rinse oli the soap, etc. Ater the bath is concluded the valve 25 may be closed and the valve 20 to the pipe 18 opened, and a cold spray may conclude the operation. When the bath 1s completed the Well 3 may be drained by means of the cock 21.

lf a vapor bath is desired, oi course it is only necessary in a room having suitable covering 40 to close all the valves except the valve 39 in vapor pipe 38, which Will permit that operation.

The entire device is extremely simple, and as stated, is particularly designed and is extremely desirable for use in the eld Where the water is of a limited quantity, and opportunities to take a bath in theusual Way are limited. rlilhus, it is particularly adapted for the use of soldiers en route, or for farmers or mechanics, 'and all others where it is impossible or diflicult to secure the luxuries of a modern bath-room, and Where it is desirable to secure thebeneits of a bath in the best Way available.

Having thus described my invention, it is obvious that various immaterial modications may be made in the same Without departing from the spirit of my invention; hence li do not Wish to be understood as limiting myself to the exact form, construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described or uses mentioned.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In Ia device of *the kind described, a

portable bath-room, ra pair of liquid vessels 1n proximity thereto, means for heating the liquid in one of the vessels, in combination with a pump within the bath-room, pipes extending from the vessels to the pump,

-valves controlling the passage of liquid the pipes, a well' provided at theA through bottom of the room, a 4piped extension from the pump to the Well, and a valve for oontrolling the passa e of liquid through the latter pipe, where from the pair of liquid vessels or from the well at will.

2. In a device of the kind described, a pair of liquid vesselsand means for heating y fluid may be drawn the water in one of said vessels, and a well arranged below the level of the liquid vessels, in combination with a pump, pipe connections from the liquid vessels to the pump, and valves controlling the same whereby liuid may be drawn from 'either of said vessels alone or from both at will, a pipe extending from the well to the pump pro-` vided with filtering means therein, and a valve controlling the passage of fluid through said pipe2 a pipe extending from the pump to a vertlcal showering devlce and between the pump and said vertical showering device provided with a horizontal showering device, a valve for closing the passage to said horizontal showering device, and a valve between the horizontal showering device and 'the vertical showering device, whereby Huid may be drawn from either .one or both of the liquid vessels or from the well, being liltered in its passage, at will, and -said fluid may be discharged either from the vertical showering device or from. the horizontal showering device also at will.
