IMPROVEMENT IN ADJUSTABLE BOOT-JACKS.
Specification forming part of Letters VPatent No. 129,936, dated July 30, 1872.
To all whom t may concern:
Beit known that I, GEORGE OoUcH, of St. Louis, in the `county of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have made a certain new and useful Improved Adjustable Boot- Jack; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and true description thereof, reference being' had to the accompanying drawing and to the let- `toe-piece, to engage the toe part of the boots in manner now to be more fully described.
To enable those herein skilled to make and use my said improvement, I will now more fullydescribe the same, referring to.-
Figure l. as a side elevation, to Fig. 2 as a bottom plan.
The boot-jaek A is provided with a semicircular recess, A', for the reception of the boot-heel, in manner usual. The jack A is supported in inclined position by a bracket-step, a. Through the bracket a, and guided in same, is arranged an adjustable rod, B, carrying at its outer end a toe-piece, G, and at its inner end a collar, b, against which a suitable spring, O', abuts, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
Theoperator inserts the toe of his boot under the curved toe-piece C, and draws it out far enough to enable him to insert the heel of his boot in the heel-recess of the jack; thus he can gage the pull on the instep or heel of the boot as desired.
Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim isv The arrangement, in an adjustable bootjack, of the jack A, bracket a, rod B, carrying a coiled spring, C', and toe-piece O, as and for the purpose set forth.
