CURTAIN-SUPPORTING BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 1. 1919.
Application filed December 13. 1918. Serial No. 266.618.
Be it known that I. (.Amyox )Luuox lnnnt. a citizen of the lnited States. and a resident of Long Beach. in the county of Los Angeles and State of California. have invented certain new and useful Improvements in ('urtain-Qupporting Brackets. of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improvement in curtain supporting brackets. and has for its object to provide a device of the character specified capable of quick and easy attachment to any casement without mar-ring the same. and without the necessity for nails. screws or the like. and wherein means is provided for supporting a blind as well as for supporting the curtain. the curtain supporting means being adjustable.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved support in use:
Fig. 2 is a brackets;
Fig. 3 is a similar view of another embodiment of the invention.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in Figs. 1 and 2. each bracket. of which there are two. formed from sheet metal of suitable weight. cut and bent to shape. Each bracket formed from a plate. the central portion of which. indicated at 1. is bent to fit over the molding '2 between the upper cross member or facing plate 3 of the casing and the side plate -t. This portion 1 is of such size that the lower edge thereof will fit. smoothly against the side facing plate. while the upper edge has series of spurs or lugs 5 for extending into the crack between the molding and the facing plate 3. for holding the bracket in place.
In addition to the central portion 1 the bracket comprises a depending portion (3 which is plane. and is adapted to fit against the adjacent facing plate 4. This depending portion 6 depends from the lower edge of the portion 1 at one end thereof. so that when the bracket is in place the portion 6 will be near the inner edge of the facing plate 4.
A hearing lug 7 extends outwardly from one edge of the portion 6. and this hearing lug has a notch 8 or a bearing opening. indi cated at 9 in Fig. 1. for receiving the trunnions of a shade roller. the notch 7 being deperspcctive view of one of the.
signed to receive the flat trunnion, while the opening 9 is designed to receive the round trunnion. The brackets. shaped as above described. will support a blind, in such manner that it may be raised or lowered in the usual manner. and if it is desired to support in addition a curtain, the portion 6 of each bracket is provided with an upstanding lug 10. which carries a forwardly extending socket 11.
Each socket consists of two similar portions which cooperate to receive the end of a curtain pole to bedescribed. The division of the socket into two portions provides a degree of resiliency.
The curtain pole consists of similar sections 12 and 13 which telescope at their meeting ends, the end of the section 13 moving in the end of the section 12. Each section at its outer end has an angular portion 14 which fits within the adjacent socket.
In Fig. 3 is shown a form adapted for supporting a blind. but not designed to sup port a curtain. In this construction the portion 15 which corresponds to the portion 1 of Fig. 2 has a series of spurs or lugs 16 at its upper edge and :1 depending portion 17 atits lower edge. corresponding to the elements 5 and 6 of Fig. 9. This portion 17 carries the bearing lug 18 corresponding to the lug 7 and having the opening for the trunnion of the shade roller. In this construction the spurs. and lugs are in two series. being arranged at the ends of the portion 15.
I claim:
1. A. device of the character specified, formed of sheet metal and comprising an are shaped portion adapted to fit over the molding between the upper cross facing plate and the side facing plates of a casement. and
having spurs or lugs for engaging the junction between the said plates. said portion carrying a depending bearing for the trunnion of a shade roller and an upstanding bearing for the end of a curtain pole. the last named bearing consisting of similar curved sections spaced apart from each other.
2. A device of the character specified comprising an are shaped portion adapted to fit over the molding between the upper cross facing plate and the side facing plates of a casement and having spurs or lugs for entering between the junction of the said over theinolding between the upper cross plates to support the device. said arc shaped facing plate and the side facing plates of 10 portion Carrying a depending bearing for a casement and having spurs or lugs for the trunnion of a shade roller, and an upentering between the junction of the said 5 standing hearing for the end of a curtain plates to support the device, said are shaped pole. a r portion carrying a depending bearing for 3. A device of the character specified comthe trunnion of a shade roller. prising an are shaped portion adapted to fit CARLON MARION PRIMM.
