PIE-PLATE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. f1, 1919.
Application filed April 3, 1917. Serial No. 159,461.
This invention relates to pie plates and more particularly to pie plateswherein several different kinds of pies can be baked in the same plate at the same time.
An object of the invention is theprovision of means for dividing the late into separate sections, so that difl'erent inds of material can be placed in the plate without becoming mixed.
A further object is the provision of a dividing wall for dividing the pie plate into sections that can be positioned on any pie plate now in use, without materially changing the same.
' With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts, as will be hereinafter specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view of the improved pie plate, 7
Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view through the improved dividing wall, and.
Fig. 3 is a detail cross sectional view of the end of the dividing wall.
Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral!) indicates an ordinary pie plate, which is provided with diametrically opposed apertures 10 and 11 which receive spring hooks 12 and 13 formed on the opposite ends of the telescoping sections 14 and 15. The telescoping sections 14 .and 15 are each formed by bending a piece of metal centrally to provide substantially V-shaped members. The inner telescoping member 14 is formed of spring metal and the legs 16' thereof frictionally engage the inner faces of the legs 18 of the outer telescoping member' 15, so that the same can be readily held in any adjusted position.
The ends of the members 14 and 15 are inclined as at 19, so as to snugly fit the side wall of the pie plate 9.
The spring hooks 12 and13 are formed by reducing and flattening the top ends of the telescoping sections 14 and 15 and by bendlng the same downwardly and inwardly as at 20.
The operation of the device.
In applying the movable wall to the pie plate, the section 14 is slid into the section 15 until the desired adjustment is obtained and then one of the spring hooks 12 and 13 p is inserted in one of the apertures 10 and 11 and the sections are then swung downward and the other spring hooks snapped into position in the other apertures.
In practice, I have found that the formv of my invention, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and referred to in the above description, as the preferred embodiment, is the most efiicient and practical; yet realizing the conditions concurrent with the adoption of my device will necessarily vary, I desire to emphasize that various minor changes in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, when required without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention as set forth.
What is claimed is:
In a pan, a detachable wall for dividing the pan into sections; said wall includin a pair of sections, one of said. sections being bent back upon itself along its central longitudinal axis to form a pair of spaced side members, the other section "being arranged to be slidably received between the side walls, and means formed on the opposite ends of the sections for engaging the pan to revent accidental displacement thereof.
11 testimon whereof I afix my signature in presence 0 two witnesses.
