Description

June 30, 1931. A. R. FU MARIO 1,812,705
JAR WRENCH Fired Nov. 2, 1927 Patented June 30, 1931 ANTHONY RAGONESE I-U MARIO, OF NEW LONDON, CONNECTICUT JAR WRENCH Application filed November 2, 1927. Serial No. 230,607.
This invention relates to .a jar cap wrench, the general object of the invention being to provide a simple device for gripping the cap of a jar and having lugs thereon, one set of which engages the top of the cap and the other set engages the gasket for removing the cap from the jar.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the device in use.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the device.
As shown in these views, the device comprises a circular part 1 having its ends extended to provide the handles 2, the extremity of one handle being bent inwardly at rightangles, as shown at 3, which limits the inward movement of the handles. The device is formed of a flat strip of spring metal and the upper and lower edges of the circular part are cut and the portions between the cuts bent inwardly to provide the upper lugs 4 and the lower lugs 5, the upper lugs-being arranged adjacent the junction of the handles with the circular part and the lower lugs being arranged opposite the handles.
In using the device, the circular part is placed over the cap of the jar, as shown in Figure .1, with the upper lugs resting upon the top of the cap and the lower lugs engaging the lower edge of the cap and contacting with the gasket of the cap. Then the handles are pressed toward each other so that the circular part will grip the cap and then by turning the device, the cap will be forced from the jar.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A jar wrench formed of a single strip of material and comprising a circular part having its ends extended to form handles, upper lugs extending inwardly from the circular part and lower lugs extending inwardly from the circular part, the lower lugs being oppositely arranged from the upper lugs, said lugs being integral with the strip from which the device is formed;
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature ANTHONY RAGONESE FU MARIO.
