Application filed January 27, 1915, Serial No. 4,635. Renewed September 13, 1916. Serial No. 119,977.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT N. FAULKNER, a subject of the King of England, and resident of New York, in the borough of Manhattan, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ladder-Feet, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in and relating to ladder feet, and has for its object to provide such a device which will be simple in construction and positive of operation, and which will be easily attachable to any ladder. Another object is to provide in a holder a non-slipping contact surface which may be kept in perfect working condition indefinitely.
With these and other obj ects in view, my invention consists of the novel details, construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claims.

Similar reference numerals indicate corresponding parts throughout the various figures.
Referring to the drawings, and more particularly to Fig. 1 thereof, a ladder is provided at the lower end of each of the sidebars, with a holder comprising a yoke 2 and a four point star-shaped wheel 3 of carborundum surface or other suitable material, rotatably mounted therein by means of a bolt and nut 4:, the said yoke being provided with suitable holes for the passage of the same. The yoke is attached to the ladder in any suitable way, but preferably by an upstanding brace 5 formed integral therewith and provided with screw or bolt holes through which the screws or bolts 6 are secured into the ladder.
Centrally of the top of the yoke and on the under side thereof, is provided a tongue or projection 7, preferably formed integral therewith and with the side portion of the said yoke, which contacts with the side face view showing the of the points of the said wheel, thereby limiting the movement of the same.
The wheel 3 is preferably formed of metal, carborundum faced, and has radiating points 8. Two of the said points rest on the ground and the projection 7 engages between the other two so as to limit the movement of the wheel and give a more substantial support to the ladder.
When it is desired to change the position of the wheel, the bolt and nut 4 are removed, and the wheel removed and replaced as desired, or should the wheel become worn or broken, a new one may very readily be supplied in the same way.
I have illustrated and described a preferred and satisfactory embodiment of my invention, but it is obvious that changes may be made therein, within the spirit and scope thereof, as defined in the appended claims.
I claim 1. A ladder foot, comprising a supporting member, a rotatable friction member provided with projections, adapted to frictionally engage the ground and an abutment member adapted to engage between the said projections and limit the movement of the said friction member.
2. A ladder foot, comprising a supporting member, a rotatable friction member provided with projections having pointed ends, adapted to frictionally engage the ground, and an abutment member adapted to engage between the said projections and limit the movement of the friction member.
3. A ladder foot comprising a supporting member, a pivot, a member on said pivot movable in respect to the supporting member and provided with means to frictionally engage the ground and having projections extending above the pivot, and an abutment member on said supporting member above said pivot, adapted to limit the movement of the movable member having the friction means, by its engagement with one of the projections of the movable member.
