adapted to communicate at its upper end with the overflow-opening in said Wall and adapted to communicate at its lower end with a waste-pipe and has the upper elbow adapted to be placed in open relation at its upper end with a water-supply pipe or fixture and has the lower end of the upper elbow screw-threaded internally for receiving the correspondingly externally screwthreaded water-receiving end of a spout adapted to extend through said wall and to discharge into the tub.
One object of this invention is to produce a combined supply and overflow bath-tub plumbing fixture which can be manufactured with facility and'is readily applied to and detachable from the tub.
Another objeet is to produce a fixture of; the character indicated which is compact,
simple and durable in construction, and not liable to get out of order.
Another object is to have the hereinbefore mentioned casting suitable for the reception, at a point between the passageways formed by the elbows, of a screw or bolt employed in the attachment to said casting of a strainer-forming plate applied to the inner side of the hereinbefore mentioned wall and to utilize the aforesaid spout in holding said plate in proper position and to utilizesaid spout in supporting said casting from said wall.
\Vith these objects in View, and to attain: any other object hereinafter appearing, this invention consists in certain features of construction, and combinations and relative arrangement of the parts, hereinafter described in th1s ;specificat1on,-pointed out in Patented-Jan. 7,1919.
the claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings. 7
In said drawings, Figure .1 is a sectional View of a. portion of a loath-tub provided. with a combined supply and overflow fix-' vture embodying my invention and provided with a strainer connected to said fixture. Fig. 2 is'a vertical section taken along the line 2-2, Fig. 1, looking inwardly. ,Fig. 3 is a'vertical section taken along the line 33, Fig. 1, looking outwardly. Fig. 4 is an elevation taken along the line 4-4,
Fig. 1. Q I V Referring to said drawings, A indicates a portion of the foot end wall of a bath tub, and said wall (see Figs. 1 and 5) is provided with an opening 5 at which water is adapted to overflow from the tub.. The opening 5 extends laterally through the wall A, and said wall is provided above said opening with a hole 6 which is spaced from said opening and extends laterally through said wall. At the outer side of the wall'A of the bath-tub and adjacent the hole 6 and overflow-opening 5 in said wall is applied a combined supply and overflow fixture embodying meritorious features ofmy invention and shown as comprising a body B which is in the form of a circular cast metal plate shown" abutting at onev face thereof against said side of said wall and extending around said overflow-opening and around the hole 6. Preferably the overflow-opening 5 is semi-circular and widest at the top thereof, as shown in dotted lines, Fig. 4. The body B has its lower portion provided with an outwardly and downwardly project ng tubular member 7 which is integral with said body and in the form of a verticallv arranged elb w and (see Fig. 1) has its lower end-portion screw-threaded internally and adapted to be connected to a waste-pipe (not shown). The elbow' or tubular member 7 forms a passageway 8 which extends endwise through said memher, and is shown in Fig. 1 as communicating at the inner face of said body with the overflow-openlng 5 and is employed 1n establishing. communication. between said opening and the aforesaid waste-pipe and in conducting off water from said opening. The elbow or tubular mem er? is gradually enlarged in width upwardly, as at 9, Figs. 3 and 4, toward the top thereof so as to permit the formation of a passageway 8 which substantiallycorresponds in dimensions and form at its water-receiving end, that is, at the inner face of the body B,with the dimensions and form of th'e-overflow-open-- ing 5 and so as to permit said passageway to properly register at said "end with'said opening. The elbow or tubular member '7 ,iis pro'vided externallyof the top of its-inner and upper end-portion with alug which is arranged centrally"'between the sides of said tendsportion of ,said elbowor tubular 'member and is provided with a horizontally earranged screw-threaded 1101s :12 which extends from .wlithini'said lug to the inner face of the body Band isshown in line endwise @(see .Fig. 1,) lwithiabolt hole 13 formed in and extending laterally through the wall .A
