Description

Patented Dec. 3i, 1916.
gvwewfoz FIQ,
GEORGE KURN', OF MUSCOTAH, KANSAS.
MILK-STRAINER HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 31, 1918-.
Application filed April 6, 1917. Serial No. 160,267.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE KURN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Muscotab, in the county of Atchison and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Milk-Strainer Holders,
' of which the following is a specification;
My invention relates to milk strainer holders for supporting the strainer cloth while milk or cream is being discharged into separatortanks, milk cans and like receptacles. I
The object of my invention is to provide an adjustable strainer holder which may be adjusted for use upon tanks of difi'erent widths or cans of a difierent size.
Furthermore the object of my invention is to provide a milk strainer holder having telescoping cross pieces and a circular band which may be adjusted relatively to the cross pieces. 7 7
Finally, the object of my invention is to produce an adjustable strainer support which will possess advantages in points of simplicity, durability and efficiency, proving at the same time comparatively inexpensive to produce and sustain.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the details of construction, and in the arrangement and.
combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully set forth and claimed.
In describing-the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part'o'fthe specification, wherein like characters denote corresponding parts in the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation, and
Fig. 3 is a cross section on the line X-X of Fig. 1
In the drawing, 1 and 2 indicate h0rizontally disposed pieces having connected intermediate their length ring supporting brackets. 3-3. The horizontally disposed piece, 2, has secured at each end transversely extending tubular arms, 4.-4, and the horizontal piece, 1, is also provided with transversally extending arms, 55, which are of a less diameter than the transversally extending arms, H, so that said last menat each end transversally tioned arms may telescope the transversally extending arms, 55.- Semi-circular bands, 6 6, are secured intermediate their length to the supporting brackets, 33, each end being provided with keepers, 77, and thumb screws, 8, which will permit of the adjustment of the semi-circular band, 66, in relative proportion to the adjustment of the transversally extending arms when it is desired to adjust the holder for vats or cans of different sizes. The strainer cloth is secured to the supporting band in any suitable manner, which may be by overlapping the edge around the band or by wire pins or clips, but as to the securing of the strainer cloth to the band I make no claims, as this feature does not form part of my invention.
The transversally extending arms,-55, are provided with apertures, 9, to receive the thumb screw, 10, carried by the arms, 4-4, whereby-the transverse pieces may be locked in engagement to prevent any accidental displacement of the same while in use.
From the foregoing description it is thought that the construction, operation and advantages of my invention will be understood, it being noted that I reserve the right to make changes in the proportion and details of construction within the scope of my invention.
4 Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In a milk strainer holder, horizontally-disposed pieces having connected intermediate their length ring supporting brackets, said horizontally disposel pieces having secured extending tubular arms, semi-circular bands suitably supported by said horizontally extending members, a strainer band supported by said brackets and means for adjusting the strainer sup ports to the'size desired, substantially as de-- scribed. In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE KURN. Witnesses H. M. TURNER, R. A. ALLISON.
