Specicaton of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 26, 1918.
Application med J' anuary 31, 1917. Serial No. 145,585.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL GUsTAr OTTo HJALMAR voN KHLER, a subject of the King of Sweden, residing at Sturegatan 16, Stockholm, Sweden, have invented new and useful Improvements in Match-Boxes, of which the following is a specication.
The present invention has for its object a match box intended to replace the usual match boxes consisting of an outer and an inner box. Over such boxes the present one affords the advantages of requiring less material for its manufacture, because the inner box is dispensed with; furthermore it is more readyeto place in the match stands, in which the matches up to date have been placed by pushing the outer box upon a support, whereby the inner box with the matches is pushed out a little, the upper end of the inner box then bein broken away to get the matches more readi y accessible.
In the accompanying drawing the improved match box is illustrated in a perspective view in Figure 1 and in longitudinal section in Fig. 2; Fig. 3 illustrates a matchstand with the improved match box in vertical section.
According to the invention the box coning the lower bottom 3 of the casing against a shoulder or projection 6 of a match stand the said lower bottom is pushed into the casing and pushes the matches a little out from it, whereby the upper bottom 2 becomes disengaged and uncovers the upper match ends, while the casing rests upon the shoulderl or projection.
The cover may be provided with a rough side on its outer surface.
Suitably the matches are to be placed in the covering in such a manner that their heads or knobs are facing to that bottom which is pushed into the casing when it is placed upon the match stand.
Such casin can be manufactured easier and cheaper than the usual match boxes with outer and inner box.
Having now particularly described the nature of my invention and the manner of its operation, what I claim is:
A match box comprising a casing having open ends, and rigid closure members disposed in said casing andspaced apart to receive matches, said members being of a corresponding contour as said casing and having a sliding fit therein.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CARL GUS'I'AF OTTO HJALMAR VON KHLER.
